Senator Schwarzenegger? (GOP Wants Ah-nold to Run against Boxer in 2004)
American Spectator ^ | Nov. 12, 2002 | The Prowler

California Rpeublicans dont want movie star Arnold Schwarznegger to wait until 2006 to run for office. They want him to make his political screen test earlier. And given the dismal performance of rookie Bill Simon, some Republicans would prefer to see the Austrian Oak show his political mettle--and ture colors--too, before seeking the highest in-state office. So some GOPers are pushing Schwarznegger advisors to run their boy against Barbara Boxer in 2004 for the U.S. Senate.

Besides providing a look at how the action star would hold up under the political spotlight, it would also resolve a bigger problem: the GOP currently has no one of stature to run against the ultra liberal Northern Californian. The only viable candidate who could challange Boxer --and win--is Rep. Chris Cox, but it's expected that he will have a higher profile in the GOP House leadership or a prime committee assignment, and won't be interested in surrendering either for a Junior Senate seat.

I recall when there was talk of this last year all of the Dateline/ 20/20 shows went rabid reporting how Arnold cheats on Maria and they fight etc....etc... and then it went away--unheard of until now.

I thought that this was Arnolds PERSONAL BUSINESS, and this is private!!! The dems are scared crapless of Arnold running. I hope the personal crap does not stop Arnold.

A conservative Hollywood star running is long over due. Too bad Charlton Heston or Tom Selleck can't. God LOVE President Ronald Reagan!!!

If Arnold runs it would be like Carville and Matlin... as Maria is a stern leftist Dem.

Actually Cox will be in the federal judiciary. Now that the GOP controls the Senate, that stupid verbal arrangement Bush made makes no sense. Boxer and Feinstein can't keep Cox off the bench.

I think that is the plan, see what Arnie's positions are in the Senate race..then if he wins then run Condi in 2006 as Governor.

Sadly, Arnold is a RINO.

True. I saw him in an interview recently and he talks like a socialist. Maybe he seems conservative by European standards.

Talked to my brother last night who lives in Livermore, CA and he said he got a phone call before the election from Bush and from Ah-nold.

Ah-nold was asking everyone to vote straight Republican and finished the call by saying, "I'll be back!"

I think he could win a Senate race in 2004.

Sure would free up Condi to run for the Governorship in 2006 when things cool down overseas

Sadly, Arnold is a RINO.

Too bad. At least he'd be better than Boxer.

She's pro-abortion. She will never be the nominee for VP or President.

Arnold is pro-abortion. He should not, therefore, occupy any public office.

Do we know that for sure?

I think Condi will do an Elizabeth Dole and take a stand on abortion.

His misogyny and philandering are well-documented, i'm afraid. Pictures of groping and everything.
