NOVEMBER ELECTION (Very Concerned!)
Posted on 10/28/2002 1:56:54 AM PST by NY Catholic
I have been a lurker for 5 years (only had a sign on for 2 years) and I do not post much so please bear with me. The election has me all worked up. It seems like the Republicans have/had a great chance to take back the Senate but the 4th quarter lead seems to be slipping away. Its like a bad movie script and I am the only one that can see the ending. I think MO, NH, GA,TN CO, AR and AK can really go either way and it looks likely that the Senate will remain in the wrong hands. PLease give some feedback or views ect....

The worst that can happen is Tommy Daschund will remain in control of the Senate. In other words, the perpetuation of the 2000 plus status quo. I still think we will pick up the Senate but with a week to go before the election its still not clear how it will turn out. For now the only poll that counts as far as I am concerned is the one that happens on Election Day.

Toss Up: AR*,MA*,TN*,AK,SC,MD.
(AR,TN and MA are currently held by the GOP)
Leaning/Likely GOP take over from RATS: NH,Al,HI.
** MN will likely stay INDP.
Status of House races as of today.
Toss UP seats are:
PA17*,NM2*,SD1*,IL19*,IA2*,CO7,FL5,IN2,MN2,ME2,GA12
Outcome for the GOP = 221 to 229 seats
Toss up seats held by GOP .
Status of Senate races as of today
GOP will likley hold on to NC,SC,TN and TX.
AR,CO,NH, and SD can go either way.
MO is leaning GOP at this time.
RATS will likley hold on to GA,NJ and MN.
P.S Chaffee said to CNN on 10/9/2002.
He might pull a Jeffords if the senate goes back to 50R-49D-1IND

Thanks for the feedback. If I am interpreting your Gov analysis correctly the DEMs are likely to gain. The Senate race in NH is not going that well according to some friends that live there. What about AK? At this point if we hold the House and dont lose ground in the Senate I guess it will be considered a GOP gain considering the norms for "Midterm election."

I have many friends in NJ and surprisingly they all say they are voting for Forrester but they also all say that Laut will win!

I wish I could give you hope, but I am not feeling very optimistic right now. I just keep expecting some behind-by-2-points-DEM to announce that he has a terminal disease (even if later to be found misdiagnosed) and has to withdraw to be replaced by a big-name-old-retread-liberal.
I probably shouldn't give them any ideas.....

Neighbors, this election is so important I cannot overemphasize it...
...at the very least, commit yourself to voting, and get everyone you know to vote, too.
Now is the time to support people you like, and hammer the ones you don't... write letters, call talk shows, generally make a nuisance of yourself.
If you don't, you have no grounds to complain if things don't go your way.
The only things that will keep me from the polls are death or a major family catastrophe.
For further inspiration, may I refer you to this:
-Activate Yourself! --
Godspeed, and may God bless...
The above's boilerplate... the following's a Jay-Mo ( Just My Opinion... )
The data I've seen indicates voter turnout will be near historical lows... while the News Jackals will chatter on endlessly about how awful this is, it's actually good news- if you bother to vote.
Low turnout means your vote is leveraged- it counts for more. Don't miss this opportunity to make your vote really count.

For some crazy reason I'm optomistic.
Call it a hunch... a premonition.
If we win in NJ and MO we're back in the drivers seat... Tiny Tom will be rotating on his thumb.

I hope you are wrong but I would not put it past them to pull some crap like that.

I just spoke to a friend in NJ....we work nights...anyway he said that he will campaign when he takes his Children out on Halloween!
To: backhoe
Lets just hope the low turnout rate means the Republicans make up the vast mojority of the turnout!
To: johnny7
I do not think your crazy...you just have hope. I hopr and PRAY we win. This country need Judicial appointees that are conservative.

I'm with you. I think we'll win big and people will be surprised.

I am worried as well and just have to keep reminding myself that God is in charge. As was said, we're still going to have a Republican President and Republican House on November 6th (barring a major surprise), and at least that will keep Tommy D from enacting the worst of his measures. The judicial nominees, however, is what really gets my gander up and I hope the Republicans NEVER forget how Bush's nominees were treated if the tables should ever be turned.
One thing that no one seems to be talking about, however: CAN WE WIN IN LOUISIANA (Senate Race) IF IT GOES TO A RUN-OFF? There are, what, 3 Republican nominees running against Landrieu, and I thought the poll totals of the 3 of them equalled Landrieu's totals. I'd like to hear more opinions on this. I'd like to have a +2 Senate gain on election day, followed by a Republican pickup in Louisiana when the run-off is over. Then Chafee can go spout off to his heart's content.

From you lips to Gods ears...I hope you are correct. This Nation needs to get back to basics and I thought 9/11 was going to do it but it seems like the country needs to wake up some more.
