'60S ICON HAD A REAL BLAST [Advice for suicide bombers?]
MAVERICK actor Dennis Hopper once blew himself up for art. In the late 1960s, Hopper says, he decided to do something different for an art show at Houston's Rice University. "I circled myself with six full-sized sticks of dynamite, rigged to go off simultaneously," he told Webster Hall Curator Baird Jones. Hopper explains the equalization of pressure at the center of the blast kept him from being harmed, but "for weeks after, I was falling all over the place because the explosion did something to my equilibrium."

6 full-sized sticks of dynamite? Page 6? Reading at 6 AM?

Kinda spooky.

Ahh, but did he ask anyone to hold his beer first?

Yes, but a person held at the center of a python's coils is at the point where all the pressure should be equalized, but this doesn't stop the snake from killing him. Or another way: a grape between the two jaws of pliers is at the place where the forces are centered and equalized.

Concentrated and equalized are different when you have opposing or cooperating forces.

Hopper's full of it ... notice he doesn't say how large this circle of dynamite sticks was. Bring that diameter down to, say, 3 feet, and let's try to re-prove his theory of equalizing pressures.

I get a kick out of Hopper... Chainsaw Massacre 2/3 were pretty wigged-out.
The guy is not too bright but he can be scarey.
As far as the dynamite... complete BS!

Yes, and I survived the destruction of Shuttle Challenger, the collapse of twin towers, the explosion of Mt. Saint Helens, several hurricanes, numerous earthquakes, etc., etc., etc.
Of course, I was no where NEAR any of these events at the time, but I did, in fact, survive them.

I had a neighbor who had a gas leak. He was setting at a table when he decided to have a cigarette. After the smoke cleared and the debris fell, he was still setting at the table, in fresh air, although the hair and eyebrows were singed. I assume he was setting in the center of pressure. Various individuals made the comment that God was looking after him. No argument there.

6 sticks of dynamite = red mist. He's lying, assuming he actually said this. Suspect, urban legend.

LOL! Like, far out, man... and a month later, he stood at an intersection where six speeding semis struck him simultaneously.
Do you suppose there are people dumb enough to try ANYthing based on Dennis Hopper's synaptic activity, let alone something involving explosives?

The guy is not too bright but he can be scarey. And who, in movies, was scarier than Hopper as Frank Booth in Blue Velvet?

More like "hold my acid man"
To: joesnuffy
Someone said Hopper held some sort of Hollywood record for most hits of acid on a continuing basis. Something like 39 or 40 days.
To: JCG
Does anyone believe that this acid head has the capability to remember anything that happened to him in the '60's?
It probably took them a full month to eventually get him to understand what his name was. And even then, he wasn't too sure.
