In the Sanchez family, I have 78 first cousins. In my mother's family, I have over three dozen. With the exception of two, in my mother's family, the letters to the editor of Paul E. Padilla of Torrington and Bill Padilla of Cheyenne very much exemplify the political attitudes of the Sanchez and Gallegoes clan.
Most of my relatives and I cannot understand the self-serving, politically correct, welfare polition of those who call themselves "Chicano." It is refreshing to read the letters of Mr. Puebla and Mr. Padilla. Is is wonderful to know that I am not the only politically incorrect Latino.
Linda Chavez, former nominee for Secretary of Labor, in her book, "Unlikely Conservative," states that "Anyone who isn't a socialist at 20 doesn't have a heart, and anyone who isn't a conservative at 40, doesn't have a brain." She went from extreme liberal/socialist to a conservative/free market mindset.
Because she is incorrect politically, the Democrats scuttled her nomination; the Democratic party has done this to every conservative Latino. Ms. Chavez demonstrates the truth that most Latinos love the United states, not Mexico and are grateful they are Americans, not Mexicans.
I love the Mexican people. The ordinary citizen of Mexico, is generous, family oriented, honest, hardworking and loyal. These are the kind of pople we need to allow into our country, but in a precise and organized manner. We must protect our borders. We must control immigration. We must know that all visitors to our country are here with our permission.
There is a process which those desiring to immigrate to this nation must follow. We need to protect the citizens of the United Staes by controlling and knowing those who come here. Mr. Puebla is absolutely correct. I hope he and Mr. Padilla keep thoses letters coming.
Leo R. Sanchez.
I also love the Mexican People and believe that they should be allowed a healthy percentage of our legal immigration. No one is entitled to come here illegally. Period.
Thanks for the reply.

IMO, the "dims" do it for a rational political reason--they believe that these new immigrants will become dependents of the welfare/warfare state they are building "right here in River City."
As to the pubbies, it appears that being "politically correct" is very important to them. In terms of votes, they will reap a whirlwind of anti-conservative margins. They don't seem to realize this or maybe the leaders of the Party right now don't care. Maybe the future of the Party is with the RINOs of the warmongering type.
Thanks for the reply.

Originally from Winston Churchill, I think.
And unlikely his family just arrived or came over illegally. Good article.
Could be. Don't agree with this myself, BTW, except for the second part of the statement.

Irish formerly voted in a block for Democrats, 80 to 90% nationwide. Ronald Reagan forced many to examine their assumptions, and now Irish are nearly evenly split Demo/Pubs. All this in a short 8 years. It can be done. I look for a big defection of Blacks to the Repub party in reaction to the successes of Rice/Powell. I anticipate a similar swing in Latinos when a forceful and brave conservative Latino speaks out and reveals the liberal agenda.
People: the worm turns.
I agree with that. Should not take 40 years to figure things out.
