The Internet cops monitor chat rooms and email accounts. Now China has blocked access to the hugely popular Google Internet search engine, because Google doesn't weed out Asubversive material...

The USSR lost control because the black market had no respect for them and didn't mind printing up factoid sheets that let people know what kind of state the USSR was really in. China is far more vulnerable technologically than the USSR was. There is a vigorous black market in North Korea. So I'd imagine that there is a vigorous one in China. Combine that with the Information Age, and it's a powerful combination. Then there is the Cult of the Dead Cow, which is making anti-firewall software for people. As for Yahoo blocking damaging info, it's simply impossible.

Conclusion: The Communist Regime of China is in deep doodoo.

If I could advise anyone in China about what to do: please be as patient and cautious as you can stand to be. If you have a chance to enter the black market, you might consider that. The black market would give you greater freedom, greater resources, and more information.

It's a shame that folks right here can not understand the concept of freeing a market that can not be suppressed in the u.S.
