[history]
We have a war-crazed vice president. An addict, a verifiable military junkie. Many of us perhaps do not fully realize this.
We are very unfortunately saddled with one of the least charismatic least interesting most intellectually acrimonious and most desperately hawkish, violence-hungry, soulfully inscrutable vice president in decades, and he wants this country at war, now and always. Oh yes he does.

The author is a pathetic, limp-___, anarchist.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
This is our vice president. And he does not really care what you think. Least of all sniveling, shrill, little limp wrists like yourself.
It is our duty to post buffoonery like this once in a while; for sheer levity. These clowns are to be laughed at, not allowed to anger us!

Boy, I've heard of flashbacks, but in thisr case I don't think the acid EVER wore off. He's still so stoned that even if those planes had hit SF instead of NY he'd still be "marching for peace" and wondering what the real message on "revolution Number 9" was.
He needs to grow up. There is evil in this world, and Bush, Cheney and the American Government are not it's practictioners. This guy, however, has become it's agent.

1936: March 7 German military re-occupation of the Rhineland successfully challenges France's willingness to act in defense of the Versailles settlement. 1938: March 13 Anschluss: Austria is annexed to the "Greater German Reich."
1938: September 30 Munich Conference: Britain and France grant Czechoslovakia's Sudetenland to Hitler to avoid war; Hitler gives Chamberlain his personal word on future cooperation (the height of the policy of Appeasement).
1939: January 30 In a speech to the Reichstag, Hitler predicts that a war in Europe would lead to "the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe."
1939: March 15 Hitler's forces invade "rump" Czecho-Slovakia in violation of Hitler's pledges to Chamberlain.
1939: March 31 Formal Anglo-French guarantees are presented to Poland.
1939: August 23 Nazi-Soviet Non-aggression Pact (& secret protocol dividing eastern Europe into spheres of influence) is signed in Moscow.
1939: August 31 Hitler gives final orders for the invasion of Poland.
1939: September 1 German invasion of Poland (In response, Britain & France declare war on Germany and begin the Sitzkrieg in the west; in six weeks, Poland falls--no effective outside aid is rendered.)
http://www.vwc.edu/~dgraf/chronol.txt
Three and a half years after the appeasement began with the Rhineland, England and France finally realizes that they were at war.
Gee, maybe World War II could have been prevented if the Europeans had just worked with Hitler. Maybe the true responsibility for six million Jews killed is really the fault of the Europeans who refused to 'work' with Hitler. If they just tried a little hard to 'understand' Hitler and not attack him World War II could have been prevented.

Mark Morford says, "Hitler is no threat, it's all those people around FDR that are driving him to war."

Mark Morford is a columnist and editor for sfgate.com. He is also a yoga teacher and fiction writer and an outstanding parallel parker and fervent wine devotee and former smoker and former LA rock-god wannabe and careful insinuator and occasional unfair mudslinger and frequent skeptic and sporadic true believer and paradoxical contrarian and tattooed love-monkey and vehement non-conservative and casual coffee drinker and ardent dog lover and medium sleeper and comparison shopper and funky subtle prurient neo-pagan gleaner of screaming delicious naked nuances. Contact him here. Or maybe here.
Me thinks Mark is a gay too. BTW, anyone know how to post a picture?

Morford had better not go down to Santa Cruz to spew forth this venom. It's a "hate-free zone". Hate is against the law.

Clinton did not have any wars, only play like wars such as bombing the asprin factory to cover blow jobs in the oval office.

You must have forgotten about the criminal attack on Yugoslavia, a nation that was no threat to us. In fact they were fighting Muslim terrorists some of whom were supported and trained by Bin Laden and friends.

I wrote this letter to the L.A. Times, but it is just as suitable here.
==================================
Editor
L.A. Times
Sir:
In response to those "warning" and handwringing about invading Iraq and toppling Saddam Hussein:
An act of war and unspeakable outrage was perpetrated on 9/11/2001. President Bush should have gone to Congress on 9/12 and asked for a formal declaration of war. Not on a particular nation but upon Islam.
The very next day, a single nuclear warhead should have detonated above the capital of every terror-supporting state.
Riyadh. Baghdad. Tehran. Islamabad. Et al. We are at war, and we are fighting for the lives of our citizens and nation just as surely as we were in WWII. A "day that will live in infamy?" 9/11 was WORSE than Pearl Harbor, because it targeted innocent civilians.
We have basically done nothing whatever--except conquer Afghanistan--in the year since the attack. A nation without a death wish would have stopped issuing visas to citizens of terror-supporting states. It would have placed troops at the border. It would have revoked the visa of EVERY citizen of a terror-supporting state--and deported ALL illegal aliens. It would have at least stopped pilot training for Islamic nationals.
There are still dozens of active terrorist cells in the U.S. Eventually they will demolish the Sears Tower or release Smallpox in a major U.S. city. Perhaps THEN we will awaken to the fact that we are at war. No mercy. No quarter. No prisoners.

Every person who says that we need to wait a little while longer before doing anything, that more proof is needed before action is taken, that we need to be patient and work through extra-national entities like the UN or NATO ...
... should be required to sign an affidavit stating that, should another terrorist attack occur, whether it be high-explosive, chemical, biological, or nuclear, each one forfeits any exercise of their First Amendment right to criticize the administration for "not acting" to defend the country. Every Democrat who opposes an attack on Iraq should be forced to stand in the well of the Congress or the Senate and state so explicitly, and then agree to forfeit any ability to criticize a "lack of action" on the part of the administration.

Isn't he precious! Particularly when he objects to the venomous, hate-filled responses his venomous, hate-filled columns engender. "Cheney is a bloodthirsty warmonger who probably eats children, but don't you dare attack me on a personal level."
To: Oldeconomybuyer
It is interesting how a craven physical coward as the author could have the glands to produce so much venom and bile. He certainly in neither worthy nor capable of shining Chenney's shoes, as his only apparent talent is in promulgating vicious adhominem attacks without basis and effecting a singular kind of self marginalization. I can think of no human on earth more deserving than Mark Morford of being sent back in time, and being securely bound to the television mast of the South Tower of the World Trade Center, sometime before mid morning of September 11, 2001. His perspective on events might well have changed in a way he had not at all anticipated.
To: general_re; Orual; aculeus; BlueLancer

Being called gay simply has zero negative effect, just makes me shrug and smile and wonder and in fact only makes me more grateful to live in a city where such an "accusation" just means you probably dance really well and shun professional sports and get regular manicures and have really great sex and cool taste in shoes. And dress in designer clothes.
