DAMASCUS -- Lebanese Hizbollah is an independent body which enjoys the protection of all Muslim states, Iran's Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mohmoud Hashemi Shahroudi told foreign reporters here on Sunday.
Shahroudi also called on Muslim and Arab states to back the Lebanese resistant movement, IRNA reported.
The U.S has adopted a double-standard policy in its war on terror and is using it as an 'excuse' to crush nations in support of the Israeli regime, Shahroudi said when asked by the Xinhua news agency.
The Judiciary official further said that the Islamic Republic is working alongside Muslim and Arab states on a plan to bring war criminals before the newly established International Criminal Court (ICC). Asked about Iran's position in the U.S. plan to attack Iraq, he said: "Although Iran does not recognize Baghdad as a popular system, it opposes any attack on the country."
" U.S. presence and interference will result in regional turmoil," he said, adding that changes in the Baghdad regime depends on the Iraqi people.
The Judiciary official further alluded to the increasing trend in Tehran-Damascus cooperation, particularly in judicial arena, and expressed hope the judicial accord recently concluded between the two sides would soon be implemented.
Appreciating the Syrian government's stance against the racist Israeli regime, he called for more exchange visits between the two countries' officials.
Meanwhile, Ayatollah Shahroudi conferred with Alama Seyed Mohammad Hussein Fadhlollah, a prominent Lebanese cleric, in Damascus on Sunday.
At the meeting, the Judiciary chief stressed the need for solidarity in stances of Muslim intellectuals toward the increasing threats against Islamic nations.
Fadhlollah, for his part, praised Tehran's praiseworthy exhortation of Muslim nations to unite against global arrogance.
Ayatollah Shahroudi arrived in Damascus on Saturday heading a delegation in response to an invitation of Syrian Vice-President Muhammad Zuheir Masharkah.
In this visit the Judiciary chief is accompanied by Minister of Justice Esmaeil Shoushtari, Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ali Abdolalizadeh and several other senior officials.
Tehran-Damascus political ties reached a peak after President Khatami's visit to Syria in 1999. Shahroudi's trip to Syria is similarly expected to open a new chapter in bilateral relations.

I believe them. Which has a predictable effect on my views of such states. And on how they should be dealt with. Now when the political leadership of the West comes around to my view of mo-slimes, we'll be talking!
There is no sow like unto allah, and mohammed is her pimp!
