"Aesir" is said to be congnate with "Asian" in one of the references. The Aesir religion is said to be influenced by Persian religion. There is another set of gods, e.g. the godess Freya, who are local Scandinavian gods that predate the Aesir.

Could be something there to work with, since the tribe of Asher was part of the Northern Kingdom which was captured and moved to the fertile crescent. Since we can't even positively determine the source of many American names only a hundred years old, I am open to alternate suggestions about names which are thousands of years old.

In addition, part of the Tribe of Asher was involved in the "early bail-out" from Egypt while Judahs sons were still alive, since one of them was recorded leaving with the group. That would date it maybe ~~1750~~ BC, and provide another source of potential "Ashers".

Good post! I believe the population of Denmark is less than that of Sweden, more like Norway.

I stand humbly corrected. According to the CIA factbook 2001, the population of Denmark is about 5.4 million. Sorry for my bad guess.

Chances are the Tribe of Dan was a source of all the Scandinavians, not just just DANmark, as well as others in the area. Some Danites left Egypt in perhaps ~~1400 BC~~ along with some from the Tribes of Judah and Asher.

Danites were also present as part of the "Lost Tribes of Israel" when they disappeared from northern Iraq ~620 BC, appearing again at the same time and place, 5 Million strong, as the Celts. They left their name trail as the DANube river, the DNeiper, and many others seen on todays map, along with DANmark itself.

Ooops, make that ~~1800 BC~~. One of Judahs sons was still alive, and went with this group of "early leavers".

but I believe that sailing westward from Peru would be mighty tough going.

And if Kon Tiki was built of reeds, why did he go to all the massive trouble to get balsa logs from the highlands down to the beach?

If they can't get the directions or the construction right, then why should I trust the rest of their 'facts'?

The few surviving examples of ancient writing are in a script that has yet to be deciphered.

Barry Fell, if still alive, would hotly dispute that, as well.

This one is kinda recent in the news. But, of a similar nature.

Sail.

The Bronze Age in SE Sweden Evidence of Long-Distance Travel and Advanced Sun Cult

'The Bronze Age of Scandinavia (1750-500 BC) is characterized by the sudden appearance of bronze objects in Scandinavia, the sudden mass appearance of amber in Mycenaean graves, and the beginning of bedrock carvings of huge ships. We take this to indicate that people from the east Mediterranean arrived to Sweden on big ships over the Atlantic, carrying bronze objects from the south, which they traded for amber occurring in SE Sweden in the Ravlunda-Vitemölla–Kivik area. '

In those days Odin was a chieftain, not a God. Folklore heroes and kings become gods to far later generations in pagan societies. The Greeks did it, too.
