Our government can't even begin to be serious about the "war on terrorism" until they close our borders. That should have been the first order of business, the closing of our borders. The big show in Afghanistan won't mean much as long as we allow anyone and everyone to enter this country as they please.

Agreed. In their theoreritcal world of peace and love, the ACLU and the Libs foster the destruction of the United States. Their upside-down thought process will cause this country to be as morally barren as their friends in Afghanistan.

We've got to get together on this. Form a voting block on this issue. For me, there is no more important issue. If the right group is formed, I will send money and work for them. If the right politician(s) come forward on this issue, I will send them money and work for at least one of them.

The article said he entered a guilty plea. That would normally mean he is presently being held in a local jail and will be sentenced in February. Very rarely are people allowed out of jail between a guilty plea and sentencing. In this case the odds would be very, very slim....because he would be considered a flight risk.

What a shame...NOT! Another case of American taxpayers financing free education to people that everyone knows are illegal aliens. Where is the INS in this? According to this article, it's not a question of state law. It's the federal system, so the judge is doing the sentencing. Also wanted to mention to those not conversant with the federal system that this also means that the federal sentencing guidelines come into play. The guidelines tend to limit the judge's discretion in sentencing.

Exactly. When, and ONLY when, illegals find the US to be a hostile environment, then we can say the fed.gov is serious about "winning." I'm not holding my breath in anticipation of the govt getting some balls, but I think maybe more citizens are waking to the fact that there actual negative consequences to having no immigration control.

All those BILLIONS of dollars their parents send to mexico from the US will be more than sufficient to build beautful schools down there. They have gotten away with this for long enough. They knew it was illegal to do, but they came here anyway, and now they have to sleep in the beds they made...

I agree nomasmojarras but I am not sure this country will force them to sleep in the beds they made. I'd like to be more optimistic on this but I have been taken back by how little GW has done on the front of illegal immigration so far. Just weeks before 9/11 he was talking about an amnesty program that would have rewarded umpteen millions of illegal aliens with permanent residency. What it will take to wake up this country, Congress and GW to the on going invasion of our southern borders by Mexicans and other illegal immigrants from around the world lord only knows. Evidently 9/11 wasn't enough. Kind of shows how much political correctness has paralyzed our own politicos from putting our nations best interests before their own. These days for a politician to come down hard on illegal immigration is to get tarred and feathered with the race card. When this insanity will end is anyone’s guess.

Any "illegal" can get a social security card and a driver's license for $400. There is an underground market any illegal can tap into and get whatever documents are needed. With those two items, they can get a job and go to work with no trouble at all. The chances of their getting caught is nil. There are millions of illegals in the U.S. doing this and they will be living here for a long time - sending money back to help their families in Mexico. For many, this may seem shocking. Do I think it's such a bad thing? Not really. It's the American way.
