Betty Boop and I, along with input from other Freepers, have created a great looking, kid-friendly anti-UNICEF flyer to hand out this Halloween when the little UNICEF trick-or-treaters come knocking.
We would like to post it on FR as a GIF, so that everyone can see it, and also with a link to a PDF version that Freepers can download and print to hand out in their own neighborhoods.
We need a web site to host these images until Thursday so that we can post them on FR. The files are not very big.
If we can't get them posted by early today, I'm afraid it will be too late to do any good.
Please, if you have a website that can host the images for just a couple of days, please Freepmail me and let me know where to e-mail the files.
Urgent Thanks.
Just my opinion.
Had to apologize to my wife for the sudden outburst.
Also, it merely asks them to ask their parents and teachers about all sides of the UN issue.
It wasn't my idea to politicize Halloween -- the UN started it with Trick or Treat for UNICEF. I used to do it myself when I was a kid.
I believe that it is important to counter the one-sided warm and fuzzy UN propganda that our kids get in school.
I think this could be a VERY effective way to help raise the community's consciousness.
I could see being to busy to help, or not having a website to offer, but frankly, I am amazed that any Freeper would have a problem with the idea of countering UN propaganda.
I don't have a problem with countering UN propaganda... with adults.
The objection I raised, was specific to the manipulation of children. The education of children is the responsibility of their parents. And while I might wildly disagree with the educational path a parent chooses, it is NOT my responsibility (or my perrogative) to re-educate their child.
While I'm sure you believe what you're doing is good, I'd ask you to consider the reaction you'd have, if someone took a holiday as an excuse to hand out political tracts to your children, trying to disuade them from practicing the religion you taught them... or trying to convince them that your parenting skills were defective. I don't think you'd like it very much at all.
Why can't you let the kids be kids? If you disagree with what their parents are teaching, then discuss it with their parents. Children don't have the intellectual development necessary to hold their opinions on objective and rational foundations anyway. They hold the opinions they do, because their parents do.
Sorry... but taking Halloween as an opportunity to politically manipulate children strikes me as somewhat sinister....
I support your condemnation of Unicef.
I think your methods are not so good.
You betcha.
But that doesn't legitimize this proposal any.
But I think that's the point. The UN is already manipulating the children by having them trick-or-treat for UNICEF.
The children would not be "trick-or-treating for UNICEF" without the approval of their parents. It is the parents who are responsible for the education of their children.
The children do not have the intellectual capacity necessary to comprehend the complexities and form opinions one way or the other.
Manipulating someone else's children with political propaganda is inappropriate.
No matter WHO does it.
It is your responsibility to educate YOUR OWN children.
Not other people's children.
I think you might feel differently if you read the flyer, which you CAN'T, because so far no one has stepped up to the plate and offered to host the images for a few days.
COME ON FREEPERS -- PLEASE HELP!
BTW, the only point of the flyer is that there are many AMericans who are worried about the UN. The last line is: "Ask your parents and teachers to talk about all sides of this important issue." The flyer is aimed as much at the parents and teachers as the kids.
Remember, OWK -- it takes a village.
I'll leave that Hillary reference to hang out there in the air...
Think about it.

Alas
Do you have any drug-legalization literature I can hand out to the kiddies? Sounds like some folks wouldn't mind.
