OVER 280 MILLION U.S. CASUALTIES SO FAR
Me | Me

Posted on 10/28/2001 7:17:28 AM PST by Northpaw

Since September 11th, 2001, there have been over 280 million U.S. civilian casualties in our war against terrorism.

As the United States fights a half-baked, nice-guy war designed not to offend, American casualties are mounting. The freedoms that we have enjoyed for over 200 years are slowly being stripped away for our 'protection'. Congress has declared new unconstitutional powers violating the 4th Amendment, but has yet to declare war.

While we wait for ground troops to begin their onslaught of Afghanistan, armed ground troops are already in full operation at our country's airports and transportation facilities, borders, dams, and nuclear power plants.

We are consumed with prosecuting this 'war' cautiously so as to maintain a 'stable' government in Afghanistan, while our own Constitutional government becomes increasingly unstable.

Terrorists have attacked us with biological weapons in the form of letter-laden Anthrax and we respond with not a threat to the perpetrators, but a threat to the pharmaceutical company Bayer to cut their price on Cipro or we will produce a generic version and cut them out of the loop.

While many hard working Americans have lost their jobs due to this terrorist attack and wonder how they will put food on their tables, millions of dollars of food is being air-dropped into a country that we are supposedly at 'war' with.

Yes, while the civilian body count of our 'enemy' is being kept to a minimum, the body count of our freedoms is mounting. I am sure that when we are hit with another devastating attack (as has been virtually promised by our government), we will see even more. < /rant >

You don't like what Bush and Congress are doing. What do you propose, specifically?

Hey Dan, it's really quit easy. Close the boarders, deport illegals, then they couldn't get here to do the bad stuff. Of course then somebody might complain, so we'll just bomb Afganistan instead (even though most of the hijackers were Saudis).

America's love it or leave it crowd betray their lack of faith in their own country.

I am willing to give whatever it takes to defeat the forces of darkness now.

I don't know since I wasn't around but I heard that the gov't was a lot more intrusive during WW2. It seems like we are usually getting the gov't we, as a voting nation, are asking and we therefore hape the opportunity to enjoy all the freedoms we want and deserve.

I disagree with W in most respects and I will probably continue to disagree with him in most respects. However, for as long as he keeps kicking terrorist ass, he's my man.

What does "there have been over 280 million U.S. civilian casualties " mean? Did you mean money spent/lost?

Cant we stop giving visas to citizens of ME countries, especially suspected terrorists? Cant we deport all the illegal aliens from mid-east countries? Cant we prosecute Muslim citizens who act in a treasonous manner? Cant we insist that Muslim residents provide information to help us thwart the terrorists? Cant we treat captured Muslim spys the way we treated Nazi spys?

Let these guys give up some FREEKING freedoms. Why does my government fight them by taking away my freedoms?

280 Millions US Casualties

He(she) meant that 280 million US citizens have been permanently, adversely affected by their own government's draconian response within the borders of their country.

Careful now. Making statements like this will cause you to be labeled panic-stricken, fearful, afraid, un-American and traitorous, just to name a few. I hope you are thick skinned!

BTW, I agree with you.

Bump. Lots of "sound and fury" so far, and way too much sensitivity. Whatever positive results we've gotten are "classified". The Ranger raid, at least from some sources, sounds like a PR event meant to assuage anger at home about nothing happening.

I'm keeping the faith and trying to stay patient.

Sounds like you need a fresh roll of Reynolds Wrap.

Those "Freedoms" you rant about losing, are not freedoms. All activities that leave our nation open to vulnerability are subject to change.

Our enemies exploited those so called "Freedoms" for the "Weaknesses" they truely are.

You can't see the forest because the trees are in the way. The provisions of the Anti-Terrorist bill expire in 2005 and revert back to the way it was.

This constant belief that our Government is some "Evil" power that is out to "enslave" us is simply stupid paranoya and never comes true.

Trust me, I've watched your type make these outlandish accusations for quite some time and it merely reminds me of "Chicken Little".

The only difference is, "Chicken Little" eventually figured it out in the end........

I am not saying citizens cant bend in war time. I am saying take away all of the enemy's freedom NOW. Then take a little of mine temporarily, if needed.

You don't like what Bush and Congress are doing. What do you propose, specifically?

I propose:

Not supplying Al Queda and the Taliban with food to get them through the winter.

Not shredding the Constitution when all that's necessary to substantially reduce the threat
of more terror is targeting, rounding up and deporting Arab non-citizens that practice Islam.

Those "Freedoms" you rant about losing, are not freedoms.

There are two possibilities.

You are completely ignorant of the content of the anti-terrorism bill.

You believe in "freedom" in the same sense that Lenin believed in "freedom."
