Editor, the Tribune: This letter is in response to the so-called peace activists who protest the U.S.-led attacks against the terrorists controlling Afghanistan. "Attacks hurt U.S. image, activists say," an article that appeared in the Oct. 8 Tribune, quotes several of Columbias loudest.
Mark Haim, director of Mid-Missouri Peaceworks, and Lana Jacobs, from the St. Francis community, have spent all of their energy since the attacks on our country condemning the president, the U.S. and all Americans for all the evil in the world. The only comment from these two that I couldnt find a fault with came from Jacobs. She said, "Maybe we have blood on our hand."
You are darned right! We have the blood of thousands of innocent civilians on our hands. This blood has come from pulling them out in pieces from the rubble and from scraping them out of the nooks and crannies in New York City, the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania. We are covered head to foot in blood!
Jacobs and Haim cannot think of one bad thing to say about the acts of war and the crimes against humanity committed by those terrorists and their leaders, except to say it is all Americas fault.
I remember what our president said to the joint Congress, "Either you are with the terrorists, or you are with us."
Jacobs and Haim and their disciples have picked sides - and it isnt the side of peace.
