Is Media Giving Away Our War Plans?
self
Posted on 10/15/2001 7:23:19 PM PDT by Endeavor
Fox News just announced we are conducting a Special Opps attack near a city (& they gave the name of it, which I missed because I was so shocked to hear it). They put up a graphic of the kind of aircraft that were being used.
Forgive me for this vanity, but am I nuts to wonder whether the media is telegraphing exactly what we are doing when we are doing it? And am I nuts to think that doesn't jeapordize our troops?
Please advise.

Telling about it at the time it happens is like saying, during an earthquake, ITS AN EARTHQUAKE!!
The residents look up and say, no, really?
No secrets lost as long as they dont say what is coming, just what is already late news to those being bombed!

Why not post your comment in the breaking news article already under discussion? You can find it a mere two notches down from here.

Thanks, Race. I just wondered if it doesn't help their leadership move troops into or out of the area - that it telegraphs exactly where the enemy troops should be looking for special ops people?

The operation probably has concluded.
puff the magic dragon will annililate the Taliban troops and make them believe that America is Allah!!

You are asuming, of course, that there is anything left in Afghanistan that even resembles a television receiving device that is capable of picking up FoxNews.

Despite the erroneous title of this thread,
Fox is Reporting Helicopters Over Jalabad, the city in question is Kandahar, not Jalalabad. And, if Fox News is reporting this, I think we can be reasonably sure that the authorities have authorized them to. There could well be a psyops purpose behind publicizing this.

The only reason bin Laden hasn't launched more attacks is because he's in a perpetual state of hysterical laughter while he watches our news networks. He's been successful beyond his wildest dreams

Well, I'm actually worried that terrorists in this country are emailing their leadership in Bin Laden's favorite cave hangout. I heard on some network he is using the internet to communicate w/operatives here since "traditional" communication methods have been disrupted.
Thanks to you all for your input.

Don't wouldn't worry about FOX. They only give out information that's been approved for release by the Pentagon. CBS, NBC, and ABC haven't really released harmful info. Worry about the turds at CNN.

If the military approved the press release I can only think of 2 things. They first is that they are playing the media like a fine tuned violin, again as in the Gulf War. Secondly, the release of the news is of no consequence. The first brings a bigger smile. I love it when the media gets dupped.

I wonder if he still has electricity?

Yes, the first does bring a big smile.

He won't live to see what he has sown.

The tactical impact of news migrates into information warfare.
Considering Prophecy tells us there will be wars and rumors of war, I suspect we have only begun to observe the impact of 'news' reporting and the dynamic effect in warfare.
