Colorado is the third most dangerous state in country: US News ranking

DENVER (KDVR) — Each year, U.S. News and World Report releases a report ranking each state on several factors. In the most recent report, Colorado made a top 10 list — for most dangerous states.

On Thursday, U.S. News and World Report released the “10 Most Dangerous States in America” list. Each of the 50 states was judged on violent crimes and property crime rates.

Colorado was recognized as the third most dangerous state, largely in part because of its property crime rate.

The report pulled violent and property crime numbers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Data Explorer. It is important to note that the data only runs through 2022, so the numbers are from that year.

Per the report, Colorado has a violent crime rate of 492 per 100,000 people. That number appears to be about average among other states that made the top 10 list.

Denver is a hell hole. My friend lives in Fort Collins and is over run with folks from California.

Actually, according to my relatives, the statistics that are utilized to rank Colorado as 3rd most dangerous are false. Pueblo County will not report crime to the state any longer, presumably because it eclipses the rest of the state. Therefore, Colorado is likely the most dangerous state in the US.

I’m guessing TN is in there largely because of Memphis.

Colorado used to be heaven on earth

One big John Denver song

Liberals ruin everything and have turned the state into a cesspool like California and Washington -state and DC

Thanks for posting the list-

it clearly shows something is at work here besides finding the most dangerous states.

I see that Oklahoma did NOT make the list. This despite certain professions being highly dangerous, e.g.: home invasions, liquor store stickups, mouthing off in bars, road rage, etc.

Wow, Florida didn’t make the list

Maybe it’s because we’re all armed?

Yet Illinois is not on the list.

Just a heads up to all-

the most dangerous state is the one with the greatest number of densely packed poor sections.

that is where the most crime takes place since dirt turned brown

What a stinking pile of BS propaganda!

CT, NJ, NY, MA, IL, MD, PA, GA, plus DC (in no particular order) all deserve to be on the list...

NY not even on the list. Can ye imagine that.

A breakdown by city/count and then of course by red/blue would be most informative.

The primary reason this kind of information is released is typically not what it seems.

It has more to do with making conservative states liberal and keeping liberal states liberal.

OK being absent is a surprise. I recall when I was trucking there were areas there where it was best to just keep rolling through and not stopping. Sad because it’s a beautiful state and some great people I met when I did drop or pick up loads.

Any state with an FBI presence is in a higher category of danger.

Yet Illinois is not on the list.

I read something a while back that said in 2021 Biden made reporting crime including murder optional. And just like that crime dropped!
