They can’t (?) kill ya.
$125,000 is about 6 years worth of debt, if she poured everything into it and worked a second job.
110,000 of her debt is student school loan debt.
I’ll bet you that she did not spend $110,000 on education. She’s squandered the money on trips cars, etc..
She’s signaling to politicians that she wants loan forgiveness.
If that happened to me, the air would be full of my shouted out, bleeped out words and phrases. I could apologize later.
Oh please. She’s 41. Just work until “normal” retirement age.
These women without anybody are n for a rough trip and not much future.
Articles like this are pablum to scare the hell out of people and boost deposits of managed money. It really isn’t rocket science and you don’t need an advisor. You need to start with discipline to the tune of at least 25% of your gross any way possible and whatever it takes. If you can’t start there you are doomed to poverty and living hand to mouth. Put it in dividend bearing ETF stocks or an S&P ETF and leave it the hell alone! Just keep doing it on and on and on. One day you could be able to retire comfortably. Start early and never give up.
This is why fentanyl is so cheap.
I’m only half joking.
Great transfer of wealth.
She will pay off all her credit cards and student loans.
Then she will pay her landlord.
And she’ll never get in front of it.
She’ll be 60 years old and have nothing to show for her lifetime.
Social security will be pushed out to 75 years old.
She’ll be facing 15 more years of nothing just to survive.
She’ll be expected to own nothing and like it.
Better to die a noble death.
$50 worth of fentanyl should do the trick.
Not suicide. Just accidental self medicated overdose.
You better believe cancelling consumer debt is on the Rats’ “To Do List”.
Oh, a “cubicle” - I remember those
Back when there were office jobs
I’m unimpressed. This idea of retiring at 62 or whatever, and spending the next twenty years or so doing whatever you want is a profyct of the 20th century. Historically people worked all their lives if possible.
Only 125k? Must not own a house.
I bet she will always have a car payment.
At 41 I had far more debt with a mortgage, car payments, credit cards, two kids etc.
We retired 7 years ago, do what we want and enjoy life. We’re debt free although we have a car payment which can be paid off anytime but it’s low interest so don’t care
That is so unrealistic for so many people. Then on top of that, they feel put upon if they discover themselves still having to work when they reach that "magical" age of 62, 65, or whatever we set the retirement age at these days.
Ironically, those who are most financially able to quit working at an earlier age are also those much more likely to keep on working as they are high-achievers and cannot imagine sitting around the house with nothing to do but watch TV or play Bingo at the rec hall. Take Donald Trump for example, nearly 80 years old, with billions of dollars, and he's still running circles around folks half his age.
Americans have been sold a stupid dream. Work until your 60s and then enjoy a life of leisure. All the retirement brochures show that mythical 65-year-old couple on the cover, walking hand in hand on some beach, "without a care in the world" as the brochure states inside.
Well, you can have that walk on the beach today while still working. It's called vacation. Don't let them sell you a dream.
That cat is our government..
She won’t die in the cubicle…her employer will simply get rid of her because of the rising cost of her future medical insurance plan because she’s old.
I’m still working full time at age 74. My “retirement” job is retail sales of fine wines and spirits and I love it. Previously, I was a college professor, lobbyist and government affairs specialist. My job pays enough to cover my living expenses and is for me stress free. My wife is now retired from her college teaching job and is starting a new career in graphic design. While we enjoy time off especially in the summer when we are at our cabin in northern Minnesota, neither of us could just spend our “retirement” doing nothing.
