The Seattle Police Department released video of a purse theft and assault and the arrest of a 13-year-old male suspect on Wednesday.
The incident happened April 6 in the Westwood Village shopping center in West Seattle.
The video shows someone grabbing a woman’s purse inside the Rite Aid pharmacy entrance and running outside. The woman ran after the suspect and confronted him. You can see him dropping her purse, spilling its contents onto the ground.
The woman says at that point, the suspect grabbed her shirt and threw her to the ground. She says as she got back up and chased him, he punched her in the face several times. One of those punches can be seen in the video.
After the assault, the suspect ran eastbound on South Barton Street along with two other teens. The victim said the group had been confronted by an employee inside the Rite Aid for not paying for items, and she commented on the situation.
It’s not clear if she was targeted because of her earlier comments.

The myth of younger age violent felons being types who deserve sympathy has to end.
Women victims of rape and torture can tell you the pain and suffering is just as bad from “teens” as from seasoned felons.
They have to be made to suffer in order for justice to be done. If the system of pseudo justice can supply then we’ll wait.

Right. Plus folks need to know when to hold ‘em, and when to fold ‘em. This woman got involved in a dispute between an employee and the thief. Mistake #1. Call 911. But don’t get involved unless someone’s life is in danger.
Then the woman decided to follow the thief out of the store, and risk injury (or worse), all for a purse. Mistake #2.
I’m not preaching from any high ground here. I probably would have done the exact same thing, and also ended up on the ground. The only difference is that the thief would have gotten a face full of police-grade pepper spray.

Instead of moving out of the way and perhaps standing with her back to a wall watching in safety she stood in the doorway unaware of the guy coming up to her.
It's painful to watch.
This would not happen in Singapore.
