Two jurors, one too frightened to serve, excused from Trump hush money trial

Two jurors in the Donald Trump hush money trial were excused Thursday, one after telling the court she was too scared and intimidated to serve, as prosecutors renewed their request to hold Trump in criminal contempt over alleged gag order violations.

The first juror, one of seven initially chosen to serve on the case, told Merchan that she was too scared to proceed after her friends, family, and colleagues guessed that she had been chosen. Merchan has ruled that the panel will be anonymous to protect their safety and privacy.

The second juror was excused after prosecutors raised questions about a juror who Tuesday had called Trump “fascinating and mysterious” — after discovering a man with the same name was arrested for tearing down right-wing political posters in the ‘90s. The juror was later excused after a minutes-long sidebar inaudible to members of the media in the courtroom.

As jury selection continued Thursday morning, half of a new panel of prospective jurors — 48 of the 96 total people — said they could not be impartial towards the former president and were excused. As they left the courtroom, Trump turned his head to stare at them.

I’d serve on the jury but, I’m too frightened to live in NY City.

This bogus trial is expected to last for 4 months. Being a criminal trial, the defendant must be present throughout the entire trial. The Democrats have effectively sidelined the presumptive Republican candidate.

Pure election interference which is a crime in itself.

I’m thankful I’m in Brooklyn, not Manhattan.

The only reason to get on that jury (or any jury) is for the four to six weeks away from work. But, no, I wouldn’t want anyone to know I was on that case, and there’d be no way to hide it.

Dershowitz has pointed out that constitutionally a defendant does not have to be present, just that he has a right to be there. This forcing him to be in the courtroom is essentially a hostage taking for a frivolous prosecution. Should be appealed ultimately to the SCOTUS. Absolute election interference and that should be prosecuted by the Trump DOJ starting next January.

” the prosecution didnt want that Trump hating fool on the jury..seems like he would have been a perfect fit why would the DA have thrown us a bone?”

Because they knew the defense knew it or would know it very quickly, and could prove he lied on his questionnaire. Not a minor error, but an outright lie.

Someone on TV said that the judge has to get the prosecutor’s OK to allow Trump to be absent. So it is up to Bragg whether Trump can attend his son’s graduation, and we know how that will turn out.

No way that is allowed by the Supreme Court that Trump has to miss the convention and cannot campaign, stuck there in NYC, until August.
This crap won’t last much longer.

"A man with the same name"?

Honest, judge, it wasn't me that torn down the posters. It was a different Cornelius Fitzpatrick McGillicuddy that did it.

Pretty sure this is a requirement of the Trump jurors. Leftwing Political activism gets you on the jury, behind the bench and lead prosecutor.

The story contradicts the lie of the headline. The headline says “Two” but the story says one. The second juror was released for saying they were biased.

Anyways the news source is a lying one. They are not to be trusted.
