A remembrance mural has become the target of "mindless vandalism" for a second time.
Spray paint was used between Monday and Tuesday last week to deface the artwork situated on Witham's river walk.
The initial incident was reported to Essex Police, but silver spray paint was then used at the weekend to create further damage.
A spokesperson from Witham Town Council said it was "just mindless vandalism". Police have been contacted for comment.

Vandalism is generational. Lawn jobs for example....it’s one guy and his pals. They eventual grow up or go to jail. Like serial killers, we have to outlast them and bring back decency.
It’s a shame to see such a magnificent example of absurd kindergarten-level artwork defaced like that...

This looks like it was done by indigenous Brits.
I can make out poppies and barbed wire. The mural may not be great art, but poppies and barbed wire are thematically solid.
Remembrance for what? Once you go down the path of painting brick, it is just a graffiti wall.
Per the article, students were engaged in its creation. I think it’s pretty remarkable to have young people engaged in commemorating losses of over 100 years ago. To your mind, how sophisticated does the execution have to be before it’s not ok to deface it?

It’s o.k., just don’t lay rubber with a dually on their sacred rainbow crosswalk.
Maybe they need to cover some of the paintings with something like Lexan or similar to keep this goons from destroying them. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them are already covered. Its a shame that a good portion of the population has sumk to an animal level, before long we may have to treat them as such.
It was a shadow painting of a World War One soldier.
It looked like a lot like Ukraine colors blue and yellow in the picture. It is hard to figure out what was original.
