I think you’re fine. I think you can visit the Mall, between Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol. See the Smithsonian which is there.

Smithsonian flight museum is out near Dulles, about 30 miles away. Worth seeing.

I think you’re talking about the Udvar-Hazy complex. I do want to visit that, as well as the National Air & Space Museum.
