NEW YORK (AP) — The number of U.S. tuberculosis cases in 2023 were the highest in a decade, according to a new government report.
Forty states reported an increase in TB, and rates were up among all age groups, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday. More than 9,600 cases were reported, a 16% increase from 2022 and the highest since 2013.

As an anecdote, when I was in first grade 50 years ago wed stand in line up for the "vaccine" which was a 3 pronged "shot" in ones right hand, it hurt like hell.

Was that a vaccine or a test? I remember it being called a TB Test with that 3 or 4 pronged thing but, yeah, it was 50 years ago, so... And then they’d check the site some time later for a reaction. Not in the hand though, it was on the arm, I think the forearm above the hand.
But you must ask this question. Why were they "processed" at Ellis Island instead of disembarking at the West Side docks like the first class passengers?
The answer -- To identify them, issue them official papers, and above all sort out the "undesirables" who were immediately deported on the next boat back to where they embarked. One thing they did to identify undesirableness was test for TB.

We used to quarantine those with TB.
We moved to Arkansas in 1970. The little town had a TB center Just south. It closed a year or two earlier.
It was huge, mostly land. Hundreds of square miles.
They were self sufficient completely. They grew their own food with farming and animals. Generated their own power mostly.
Square miles of land they had were given to the Boy Scouts.
It was in Booneville.
