That boat and everything on it it were insured, correct? Why is President Senile getting involved and saying the government is paying for this?

Somebody has to pay for the salvage operations and a new bridge while the owners and operators of the vessel duke it out in court.

Yes, that also occurred to me. These ships must be fully insured.

Why everything I don’t know but I’ve read the bridge ownership/maintainance is 90% federal, 10% state. I don’t think that’s unusual for an interstate.

If a person/vehicle damages public property the Fed/State/county/city/Port will make repairs to while seeking compensation from the party thst caused the damage.

Did you know that if you wreck your car into a guardrail, streetlight, or road signs, that you are financially responsible to pay for that damage and those things require immediate repairs to prevent another accident from happening because they were installed for safety purposes. If the government had to wait to get paid, they could become liable due to neglect?
