After several women came forward on TikTok saying they had been randomly punched in the face by strangers, the NYPD has made an arrest — though it's not clear if the suspect is believed to be connected to any of the claims on social media.
Police arrested Skiboky Stora, 40, of Brooklyn, on Wednesday after a 23-year-old woman reported to police that on Monday morning, a stranger had struck her, the NYPD confirms to PEOPLE in a statement.
“The victim fell to the ground and suffered injuries to the left side of her face,” they said in the statement.
Stora is charged with assault. It's not immediately clear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney.
The arrest comes during a week in which several women have said on TikTok that they have been randomly attacked by a stranger — specifically hit in the face — while on the street.
The NYPD did not confirm that Stora's arrest was connected to an incident described on TikTok, but police responded to PEOPLE's inquiry about the allegations made on TikTok with the announcement of Stora's arrest.
On Monday, influencer Halle Kate shared a video with what appears to be a contusion to her head.
“I was literally just walking and a man came up and punched me in the face,” Kate says in the video, as she breaks down. “Oh my god, it hurts so bad, I can’t even talk.”

In a Forensic Files wire last night an eighty five year old (white)woman was particularly violently stabbed to death in her bedroom. When detectives came up with a suspect who happened to be black they decided to interview his family members. His ex wife or girlfriend at some point offered that “He hates…old people”. Yeah, old people. I wonder if the producers edited that or if the family member edited that because apparently he never encountered any black old people in the decades he lived before he happened upon the old honky.

I am confused.
The guy was arrested for an event having nothing to do with the TikTok women. Personally, I think the TikTok women are making it up. The person who started it is a woman that has 1 million followers on TikTok and they is what they call an influencer. The very next day three more women chimed in with the same story. I think it’s very possible these are attention whores. No video, no witnesses, no surveillance cam, no description, nothing. Hell, one of the women could barely stop smirking and look like she was about to laugh as she was telling us her story. This is another one of those believe women times… When we really shouldn’t.
