But I feel like I’m getting an undergraduate education in Machiavelli as well as Gramsci, AND their relationship, which is pivotal in understanding the modern day influence of both.

Codevilla was a gem. He died last year. Check out his essay entitled “The Ruling Class and the Country Class” or something like that. Unbelievably prescienct.

Well thank you kindly for that. I found “America’s Ruling Class” here: https://spectator.org/americas-ruling-class/ I finished reading it last night. (He writes long thorough articles. I notice the audio version at the top of the webpage is 79 minutes long... LOL.)
Mr. Codevilla was indeed prescient when he wrote this in 2010, but it’s not hard to be prescient when one has studied a phenomenon like progressivism so thoroughly... he just needed to connect the dots from the amazing solid historical trajectory he had already carefully assembled.
This excellent article articulates what I realize I had already come to understand in my gut, but could not explain so clearly... that the entire deep state expert elite mess we find ourselves in is due to the solid establishment of “enlightened” progressive thought throughout the Western nations. He shows the seeds of American progressivism were sown two hundred years ago, and have grown powerfully over the last hundred and fifty years. And he does a good job of further explaining (while avoiding a heavy-handed treatment) why progressivism by its nature must be anti-Judeo-Christian, anti-patriotic, and anti-family. And of course anti-MAGA although his work preceeds MAGA.
