Colorado Seretary of State Jena Griswold (D) is standing with House Democrats in her state who are pushing for a ban on “assault weapons.”

On February 29, 2024, Griswold (pictured above) used to X to share Denver 7’s coverage of the broader gun control push undertaken this year by Colorado House Democrats. That broader push includes creating new gun-free zones which would even prohibit licensed concealed carriers from being armed for self-defense, more stringent requirements for obtaining a concealed carry license, and the “assault weapons” ban.
Another gun control being pushed by Colorado House Democrats is an 11 percent excise tax on firearm sales.

Well this will prevent criminal cartels from operating in the state for sure.
It’s a waste of time to go down that road where we use hobbiest language to explain how rare assault rifles are because that means full auto select fire and then think we will solve big points and start high fiving each other.
She knows exactly what she means. Something that has a military look, and has a 30 round magazine hanging underneath it.
I want her to walk downtown Denver at night without any armed security or her own firearm.

I guess she wants a safer work environment for criminals and psychos (like the one who shot up the movie theatre in Littleton that clearly put up signs forbidding guns including persons with carry permits).
Illegal laws should be ignored…they ignore the law and so should we.
Maybe they should just ban assault so that there isn’t any assault in which to use weapons.

SCOTUS has already ruled on this. Eventually a state is going to ignore SCOTUS and do it anyway.

I support domestic enemies of the Constitution being pilloried on the public square, where passers-by can pelt them with rocks and garbage.
She should have to walk five miles, alone through Denver tenderloin, than talk gun control.
And to think just a few years ago CO was solidly red. I was hoping to retire there. Oh well. OK is where I’ll stay. Maybe east TN. I was 13 years in TN and parts of it are nice. The Smokies, for example.
