British tanks are designed for military trade shows but not for the battlefield? According to this Sun report the biggest ‘challenge’ for the ‘Challenger’ tank are ordinary puddles by Ukrainian standards. “It keeps getting stuck.”
Excellent video.
Drones of all sorts are what is changing warfare. And all the yap about nukes is only a small part of this modern killing machine. Bio warfare is just as destructive to human life, yet leaves the plants and trees alone.
I don’t know that it’s so much stuck as it is high centered.
The tracks can’t get traction.
Poor crew training.
Given the ever improving technology of drones, GPS, stealthy hand held missiles, etc, etc, land armored vehicles are obsolete iron coffins. As are naval surface combatants and helicopters over a modern battlefield.
“and now the’re waiting for a recovery vehicle”
Don’t like the sound of that. Depending on their location, I’d think their adversaries would be ready for a twofer takeout when that recovery team arrived.
“More than half of the Challengers have already been eliminated by Vlad”
Exactly 14 Challengers have been sent to Ukraine, and it does not appear that any of those have been hit. Has Vlad somehow been blowing up British tanks in the UK? Awfully clever of him.
Ukraine mud is wonderful stuff.
Gotta be a native to know how to deal with it.
Got the t-shirt.
With the mud that simply won't wash out?
Wrong again, only 1 Challenger is reported destroyed.
Soon enough, they’ll be outfittging tactical nukes to drones, and everything will ‘change’, once again.
Nazis had he same problem in spring and fall.
No that’s Russian tanks . Russian tanks are only great in the World of Tanks online game ,LOL
this is a much shortened clip from the original
they were able to pull it out using another Challenger
Heavy tanks, narrow treads...
I thought all the tanks didn’t work in the spring mid season in Ukraine. Not sure many tanks work in 5 ft of mid. Also, I would think they would have options to move to wider tracks. Doesn’t smell right.
In the clip, it looked like they were crossing a swamp. Don’t know much that works in the swamp....
Tanks have lower ground pressure than wheeled vehicles half their weight. The problem from this video isn’t with weight (which, if it doesn’t result in excessive ground pressure — which it doesn’t — is a red herring), or too narrow tracks (first time I’ve ever head that excuse), it’s low ground clearance.
If you bothered listening to the video, that one isn’t “stuck in the mud,” it’s high-sided because it’s being driven through ruts that are too deep. That’s a driver problem, which might be an offshoot of fear of mines. They wouldn’t be high-siding if they’d gone through the open field. But that open field might also be mined.
Regardless, it’s not the tank’s fault.
I stand corrected. That’s a tank commander problem, because the driver only steers where he’s told to.
