Jim Jordan Tees Off At Hearing After Democrat Says There Are ‘Limits’ To Free Speech

Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan got heated at Thursday’s hearing on the Weaponization of the Federal Government after a Democratic congressman said there are “limits” to free speech and the First Amendment.

Democratic New York Rep. Dan Goldman argued the committee is “chilling the federal government” to “undermine” the severity of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

“We all agree with the First Amendment, but the problem is that the First Amendment is not absolute. It does not protect any single thing anyone says, and there are limits, and that’s important,” Goldman said. “And what this committee has been trying to do for the last year and a half is to chill the federal government for monitoring what is going on on social media and otherwise out there so that misinformation and disinformation can run rampant on Elon Musk’s social platform and every other social platform so that they, the Republicans, can benefit from it in the November election. That’s why this committee exists and we have gotten no evidence to support any of these allegations.”

It was never meant to include limits such as...."don't hurt someone's feelings".

Surprised Santa hasn't gone to jail for saying..."Ho, Ho, Ho".

Democrats have taken that "My truth is better than your truth!" stuff far too literally.

Goldman goofed up. He called J6 a riot. He undermined the J6 narrative that it was an insurrection. I’m glad he is the new Adam Schiff. He is very stupid.

They don’t understand, do they? They really don’t know what was being said that day? Perhaps we need to speak louder.

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today that it received 372 pages of records from the U.S. Department of State that confirm prior Judicial Watch reporting that the Ukraine Embassy under then-Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch monitored, in potential violation of law, Donald Trump, Jr. Rudy Giuliani, and major journalists on Twitter on their commentary on Ukraine, "Biden-Burisma 2020", and George Soros.

The documents list the targeted persons as:

The search terms that were flagged to be monitored by State Department officials on social media included:

The emails show that Yovanovitch was aware of the social media monitoring program.

Additionally, a State Department contractor warned his colleagues that their monitoring of private citizens was potentially in violation of the Privacy Act of 1974.

"These new documents confirm Deep State officials at the Ukraine Embassy seemed to set up an enemies list to help illicitly monitor and report on the social media postings of President Trump's family and lawyer, as well as journalists," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "The State Department hid these smoking gun documents for months."

Tru dat.... “FIRE”. Comes with some responsibility to those who hear in that crowded theater... are there flames? Feel heat? Smell smoke?

Speech is protected, the weak and ignorant blame the words for their misbehavior.

Fixed the assclown's statement. When they say mis-information or dis-information they mean TRUTH.

“The Ten Commandments are the greatest list of instructions ever devised for creating a good society. But such a society cannot be created or maintained if it is not based on TRUTH.” - Dennis Prager

New Report Exposes Massive Government Surveillance of Americans’ Financial Data
March 6, 2024
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House Judiciary Committee and its Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government released an interim staff report titled, “Financial Surveillance in the United States: How Federal Law Enforcement Commandeered Financial Institutions to Spy on Americans.”

The report reveals alarming evidence of federal law enforcement engaging in broad financial surveillance and prying into the private transactions of American consumers. This surveillance, not predicated on specific evidence of criminal conduct, targeted terms and transactions related to core political and religious expressions protected by the Constitution.

Federal law enforcement, including the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the FBI, facilitated multiple backchannel discussions with financial institutions to gather Americans’ private financial information.

These discussions involved some of the largest financial institutions in the United States, such as Barclays, U.S. Bank, Charles Schwab, HSBC, Bank of America, PayPal, and many others.

Tactics included keyword filtering of transactions, targeting terms like:

This surveillance extended beyond criminal suspicion, likely encompassing millions of Americans with conservative viewpoints or Second Amendment interests.

The right is absolute. Anyone has the right to yell fire if they so choose. But they aren’t free from any negative consequences such as creating a panic and people gettin hurt. There is also the expectation of being responsible about it. That’s a nuance that many fail to appreciate.

There are no rights, only words on a piece of paper.

To be interpreted as those in power deem appropriate.

George Carlin had a good take on it 40 years ago.
