Thursday night is his first major election speech of the 2024 campaign. Yes, he’s the president and he’s giving the speech in his official capacity, not at a campaign rally. But the power of incumbency is that you get to make your pitch to the nation in front of all the major networks, with the U.S. Congress as your backdrop. There are important governing imperatives for Biden in this speech — pushing the House to take up the aid package for Ukraine and Israel passed by the Senate and laying out the framework for funding the government through the rest of the year, to name a few. But it’s worth thinking about this particular State of the Union through an explicitly re-election-related lens.

It’s a cheap estimate: 320000 x $800/seat (SWAG) = $256M

They will gloss over ever lie he said...or carry the water for that lie, and say Trumps retorts were immature and “without evidence”

Ignore everything you see around you. Ignore the price of gas, groceries, housing, child care. Ignore your declining wealth and increasing debt. The article links to a report from the ultra-left Center for American Progress, which was run by Van Jones. The quote real wage growth from 2022 to 2023 but ignore the 2 years before that when real wages declined. They compare our GDP to the GDP of “peer” G7 countries - aren’t all the G7 countries our peers? US GDP has grown faster that the rest of the G7 for decades, and we pumped 6 trillion of printed money into the economy, that is 6 percent of our GDP.
I’m torn here. Between my utter revulsion for this animateonic piece of shit and the distinct possibility that we’ll see him goober it up on national TV.

They have shifted his schedule so the speech will be early in his day, and he will be pumped full of whatever cocktail of stimulants is required to make him appear semi-coherent. And of course this is a well rehearsed speech, read from a teleprompter, with loads of built in pauses. He’ll still mumble and say a few random words that don’t make much sense, but we’ll see him at his “best”. It will be a lot like the 2023 SOTU as far as his abilities.
He will not goober up.
