Several prominent House Democrats are jostling to fend off Republican former baseball great Steve Garvey in the yearlong battle to fill the U.S. Senate seat once held by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, with two slots on California’s November ballot at stake.
In a state where a Republican hasn’t won a Senate race since 1988, Democrats are expected to easily hold the seat in November, a relief for the party as it seeks to defend a fragile Senate majority. But first-time candidate Garvey, a National League MVP and former star for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, reordered the contest that also features Democratic Reps. Barbara Lee, Katie Porter and Adam Schiff.
California puts all candidates, regardless of party, on one primary ballot, and the two who get the most votes advance to the general election. For months, Schiff has had the fundraising and polling edge, but it’s possible Garvey could claim the second spot on the November ballot, ending the congressional careers of Porter and Lee, two prominent progressives.
It would be a blow in particular to Porter, whose 2018 upset win was among Democratic breakthroughs in Orange County, once a Republican stronghold. …

I wonder what they know that we don’t.
They wouldn’t be trying so hard if they weren’t worried about the outcome.
Not sure how that works....but I voted for Steve Garvey last week!! Praying much that he can make it and get in with flying colors against all of the Democrat fraud....
So this might not be Dems vs Garvey, but Schiff vs Porter and then hopefully no worries in November.
I'm really surprised that Lee didn't do better. It used to be that if there were a Dem candidate from Norcal vs one from Socal that the Norcal Dem would always win. I guess so many people left the SF bay area, that the Socal Dems now have the edge.
Like a court, I think you might call this type of action a stacked vote.

( thanx for the help mike lindell, shasta county appreciates you ! )
No wonder we lose.
Yes, I know Reagan was an actor but he at least had, A, the right politics and could convey his politics effectively, and B, some political experience.
The Republicans run losers. It's that simple. And the party doesn't back the good ones like Larry Elder, Lanhee Chen, etc.
Fraud denial.
Yes; it happened in 2022.
This can be applied across the board.
Dems would not be torching an institution a month if they were comfortable that the fix was in.
Yes!!!!!! on both counts!!!!!!
Not so behind the scenes; quite out in the open. I’ve received two mailings from the Schiff campaign with the absolute weakest attack on Garvey you could imagine, as an effort by Schiff to get out the GOP vote for Garvey so it would be Schiff v Garvey in November. If the latest polls are to be believed, Garvey may come I. First today, with the rat vote split 3 ways, but Schiff getting the most.
Why I saw bubbles for Steve Garvey on BOTH California US Senate election ballots is a mystery to me.
Garvey finishes 3rd. The fat lady gets in. The republicans can then make sure Schiff loses if they’re willing to fight in a losing cause.
Translation: The Oligarchs would have to spend money to overcome Garvey so the best thing to do is legislate him out.
That too. But the ones I listed were piss poor candidates.
Thanks for your opinion. Still denial of fraud.
If Garvey makes the cut, how soon before the bimbo parade starts?
“I was a Dodgers groupie back in the 90’s, and the things that Steve did to me shocks the conscience!”, etc.
Let us see. I say no way. No worse than 2d. Let’s touch base after the results are in
On the way to vote today I heard a radio add for Shifty on KFBK (Conservative leaning station out of Sacramento)
Shifty warned Garvey was a MAGA supporter.
Made voting for Garvey all the sweeter even though I’m not sure SG is a MAGA Rap.
Did my comment "That too" escape you?
Of course there's fraud. AND our candidates suck.
