Democrats announce bill to kick Trump OFF the ballot immediately after the Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that he could be allowed to stay on: The left melts down over ruling and even calls for court to be DISBANDED

Top Democrat Jamie Raskin said he is working with fellow liberals in Congress to revive legislation that would disqualify Donald Trump from running for office in light of the new Supreme Court ruling.

The high court on Monday ruled 9-0 that only Congress, not Colorado, can ban Trump from the ballot and the former president must be reinstated on the Centennial State's primary ballots.

Raskin, D-Md., who chairs the Oversight Committee, said he was collaborating with colleagues like Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., to 'revive legislation that we had to set up a process by which we could determine that someone who committed insurrection is disqualified by section three of the 14th amendment.'

Such a bill was first introduced in 2022 by Schultz and would create a pathway for the Department of Justice to sue to keep candidates off the ballot under the 14th Amendment.

'The House of Representatives already impeached Donald Trump for participating in insurrection by inciting it,' Raskin told CNN shortly after the ruling. 'So, the House has already pronounced upon that.'

Meanwhile Maine Democrat Rep. Jared Golden told DailyMail.com in a statement: 'The Supreme Court got it right.'

'I believe Donald Trump incited the violence that took place on January 6, and my vote to impeach him for it reflects that belief. But the House impeachment vote alone is not enough to preclude him from the ballot,' he said.

Government as constituted now IS absolutely unconstitutional.

We have things like the EPA making law instead of the House. No budgets are being passed, everything is a continuing resolution.

And our debt is increasing by $1 Trillion dollars every 100 days.

Something is going to give.

Sounds like a retroactive bill. A bill to increase the number of SCOTUS Justices would be legal, but FDR tried and failed to do that.

The most direct method to unseat someone who is elected President is Impeachment and Conviction.

A Pardon is not applicable. You can’t pardon someone out of an Impeachment.

There is no double jeopardy. Someone could be Impeached and Tried for the same offense twice. It’s totally within the purview of the House and the Senate.

It’s also difficult to do. It should be.

Raskin does NOT Chair the Oversight Committee he is ranking member. The Chair is Republican. So Raskin’s stupid effort will go no where except get cameras in front of him.

Congress has known this about their power for decades. Pelosi controlled House decided Obamaumao was a US citizen— when he obviously wasn’t. It was Hitlery that pointed this out FIRST, btw.

Trump believes Obamaumao should never have been a candidate- and his birth certificate was a FORGERY. Proven by experts in electronic documents.

Perhaps the J6 Committee and their neww mission will be required to show all of the newly released J6 tapes for all to see who really incited violence. Such a shame they didn’t do that the hearings.

At least this guy is honest. A bit demented in his belief about January 6, but nonetheless honest. The rest of the Dems are both demented and dishonest.

What a lie!! These connected Democrats know full well it was a Democrat planned scheme to fool low info voters. No doubt it’s doing that, but that’s the only ones falling for it. This clown knows the truth.

*************

We’ll soon hit $35 trillion. Totally unsustainable.

The debt clock recently hit $34T and we quickly added another half trillion in just a couple of weeks.

Another U.S. debt downgrade wouldn’t be a surprise.

Any Congressional bill that seeks to remove Trump from the ballot would constitute a Bill of Attainder and would be Unconstitutional. It would also be EX Post Facto and contrary to Article I, Section 9, Clause 3 of the US Constitution.

A bill of attainder, now. Well, you know...we’re all doing what we can. But when you’re hiding your corruption...

I think you’re wrong, double jeopardy is prohibited by the Constitution and I don’t believe there is an exception for impeachment.🤨

Impeachment is a political act, and not civil or criminal.

Impeachment and Removal Trials are not considered legal precedent because the process has no actual rules regarding how to conduct the process. Every impeachment is preceded by the passage of rules for that particular case. Double Jeopardy does not attach as a result of an impeachment process.
