A special agent for the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) was indicted in Tucson, Arizona, Wednesday by a federal grand jury on one count of Involuntary Manslaughter of an Officer of the United States.
Larry Edward Brown, Jr., 42, of Peoria, is the agent who was charged, according to a press release from the U.S. States Attorney's Office, District of Arizona.
It is based on an incident that allegedly occurred on August 17, 2023, at a firearm range at the Federal Correctional Institution – Phoenix that is used for standard pistol qualifications and classroom training. Brown, a special agent for IRS-CI for more than 12 years, is a trained Use of Force Instructor.
Following the day’s training, Brown entered the one-room building known as the “Tower,” from which the instructors observe and command live-fire training.
“The only other occupant inside the Tower was Special Agent Patrick Bauer, a 15-year veteran of IRS-CI and a trained Use of Force Instructor, who had led the live-fire pistol qualifications that day,” according to the press release. “As alleged in the indictment, while inside the Tower, Brown handled his firearm without due caution and with reckless disregard for human life, striking Special Agent Bauer in the torso with a single gunshot.”
Bauer was taken to a hospital nearby where he died from the gunshot wound.
Brown had his initial court appearance on Friday and has been released. The trial has been set for April 2, 2024.

I think the bottom line here is if/when IRS agent Brown is convicted, the IRS will be left with only 87,000, 86,999 86,998 new enforcement agents.
Calling Alec Baldwin.
Blame the girl.
Disarm the IRS!
It is ridiculous to have armed IRS agents. Do your investigations, guys. Shuffle the papers around. Then if someone needs to be arrested, get a warrant and call the US Marshal’s Service.
But unfortunately we’re heading in a direction where half the country will be police, and the other half will be stalked by police (only a slight exaggeration there).
It’s a good start.
😂
Agreed. Disarm them. In fact, disarm all federal law enforcement since they are no longer going after genuine violent criminals/foreign enemies but only political opponents of democrats. They are more of a menace to innocent bystanders and themselves.
Disarm all capital [sic] police, and congresscritters, and judges private bodyguards.
Well, after all, this is only more evidence for the claim that white males armed with guns are the most dangerous enemy that the United States faces.
Now, that claim is very true, by the way. With two changes.
White, male Democrat politicians who are scared of offending Democrat women are the second most dangerous threat to the United States today. (Democrat females are the most deadly threat to our Western Civilization today.)
The EPA has SWAT teams
Saw them in action in Amarillo hauling off records from a company that disposes of medical waste. Bulletproof clothing, M16’s and pistols.
The Nazi’s are alive and well and have been since the 80’s
Some of the Swatters were women
Every damned thing is criminalized these days. This tragedy was an accident, with zero criminal intent. They guy should get the sued into oblivion in civil court and get fired.
The overfeminization of the legal system has ruining things.
In the past this guy woulda had to pay damages to that family.
Now he goes to prison, won’t get to work to pay the damages, and a prosecutor gets another scalp based upon a tragic accident.
“It is ridiculous to have armed IRS agents. Do your investigations, guys. Shuffle the papers around. Then if someone needs to be arrested, get a warrant and call the US Marshal’s Service.”
THIS
Yep, they can ruin lives from behind their desks.
They should be disarmed.
