Appeals Court Upholds Ruling Striking Down NYC Voting Rights for Foreigners

A New York appeals court upheld a prior ruling that struck down a New York City law giving local voting rights to nearly a million foreign nationals.

As Breitbart News chronicled, Democrats on the 51-member New York City Council approved a plan in January 2022 that gave more than 800,000 foreign nationals with green cards, visas, and work permits the opportunity to vote in citywide elections so long as they have resided in the city for at least 30 consecutive days.

Black New Yorkers, along with naturalized American citizens, the New York State Republican Party, the Republican National Committee (RNC), and Democrat officials like Councilman Robert Holden subsequently sued Mayor Eric Adams (D) and the city’s Board of Elections.

In June 2022, the New York Supreme Court ruled that giving local voting rights to foreign nationals violated the state’s constitution, which explicitly reserves voting for American “citizens.”

On Wednesday, the New York Appellate Division upheld that decision:

I'm surprised at the decision upholding the ruling, but occasionally even leftist Courts get one right.

They will do it anyway, and defy anyone, to do something about it.

Maybe this is a good sign for Trump’s appeal of the preposterous Engoron judgment.

My thoughts exactly. “You can still vote, just don’t tell anyone you’re illegal”.

The “motor voter” laws have given illegals the “right” to vote in most states for years. I’ve worked numerous elections in Hillsborough County, Florida as a poll worker and all we needed to do to hand them a ballot was to scan their Florida driver’s license into the state’s database. As long as the license came up current and valid they were allowed to vote. So what the hell is the big deal about this ruling in New York? The Florida Legislature long ago declared asking anyone in Florida to prove citizenship was burdensome and unconstitutional. So they are not asked. What’s more, the reverse side of the scanner provides the voter with a view of the statement they are signing, entirely in Spanish.

So the New York City Council is happy to allow the 800,000 votes of their American citizens to be offset by the 800,000 illegal votes of foreign non-citizens.

A hundred fifty years ago every Council Member who voted for this outrage would have been tarred and feathered and carried out of the City on a rail.

IMO, this is a good sign. This needs to become a trend in all of the looney Blue states and any Red state in danger of becoming Blue.

I assume many NY judges are Jewish.

And that the recent wave of "From the River to the Sea" protests made these Jewish judges rethink the leftist policy of giving Third Worlders the right to vote.

So, now they’ll work to amend the state’s constitution.

<><>naturalized American citizens,
<><>the New York State Republican Party,
<><>the Republican National Committee (RNC),
<><>and Democrat officials (like Councilman Robert Holden).

Meanwhile, Gotham still has RCV and electronic voting machines.

I don’t think Deep State is too worried.

The Feds are the ones who created motor voter requirements.

And, the Supreme Court in 2013 decided that States cannot add citizenship requirements to voter registration.

Lastly, the Voting Rights Act requires ballots to be available in various languages.

I think Congress needs to add an Amendment REQUIRING citizenship checks for ALL voters - PERIOD! That would pretty much GUT the Democrat-led BS motor voter scheme to make illegals eligible to vote!

As for the language requirements, I have no truck with providing ballots and information in the language most comfortable to any LEGAL voter.

Do you really believe this is gonna stop the dirty cheating rats from pulling a fast one on Election Day and the American people? If you do then, like the saying goes…I got some ocean front property to sell you in the Mojave desert!

What they didn’t show was the wink the court gave the litigants.
