Kevin O’Leary slams Trump’s civil ruling as ‘un-American’ and a shock to the entire real estate industry

In a scathing rebuke of a New York Judge’s decision to fine Donald Trump a staggering $355 million, the entrepreneur and media personality Kevin O’Leary minced no words, denouncing the ruling as “unjust,” “appalling” and ultimately “un-American.”

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron’s Friday ruling not only slapped Trump with that hefty fine, but also with a temporary ban from conducting business in his native New York.

O’Leary, known for his role on “Shark Tank,” lambasted the decision, arguing that it sets a dangerous precedent for the entire real estate industry.

O’Leary had previously been critical of the months-long fraud case in the media, saying on CNN recently that, “I don’t think this thing will ever survive appeal regardless of what the fine is. This doesn’t even make sense.”

“That fact that he was found guilty, you might as well find guilty every real estate developer on Earth,” O’Leary said in an exclusive interview with The Post.

The judge’s decree bars Trump from assuming any officer or director positions in New York for three years, a move O’Leary sees as detrimental not just to Trump, but also to the broader business landscape.

“I don’t understand where someone got hurt … What developer doesn’t ask for the highest price valued for any building they built?” O’Leary said.

Predicting an overturn on appeal, O’Leary cautioned against the lasting repercussions this ruling might have on American business.

“It’s not healthy for the country,” he emphasized. “I want this reviewed and appealed and turned over because it’s wrong for everybody that participates.”

He later added, “If this judgment sticks. Every developer must be jailed. They must be found guilty. They must be put out of business. You can’t do this to one another. It’s not about Trump.”

I wonder if they'll kick O'Leary off Shark Tank.

Don’t panic, Gev. Hochul is reassuring NYC businesses this is just directed at Trump (ok she didn’t say that exactly, but it sure came across that way).

The Democrats are so desperate to get Trump, they're opening one Pandora's Box after the next without any regard to the unintended consequences that are going to come to haunt them.

As another FReeper mentioned on a related thread, imagine lying on your mortgage application, exaggerating your income, yet you've made every mortgage payment on time and after 30 years, you paid off the loan in full. With this ruling, they could come after you for fraud.

“It’s not about Trump.”

It seems like it is about Trump, in the eyes and minds of the nasty people doing this to him.

But O’Leary’s point is a fair one. A huge amount of collateral damage stands to be done to many, many people and to multiple industries having little or nothing to do with Trump, and they should all be squealing to high heaven right about now.

O’Leary had better get with the program. Contribute to the Democrats. Support the Democrats. It’s like with any corrupt organization. Pay tribute or be destroyed.

Trump’s great sin wasn’t that he did anything wrong (because he didn’t). Trump’s great sin was that he challenged Hillary and then Biden.

And of course O’Leary is right. Good for him for speaking up. I just wonder who will get to him first, the IRS or the FBI. ☹️

So basically, if I put my house on the market, and take less than the asking price for it, I’ve committed fraud.

ANY business in New York borrowing money from a New York Bank could face the same fines as Trump.

Letitia James has an ax to grind and it'll be on your head.

What was it that the Constitution had to say about bills of attainder? Oh that’s right, that’s a “racist” document drafted by a bunch of dead old white men. That doesn’t apply in the new “enlightened” Leftist utopia.

If YOU think Trump was railroaded to add coin to the coffers of the corrupt State of New York, just think of all the people who got loans from New York Banks.

They’re ALL on the hook. Every small business, every home owner, every Republican.

That bimbo Letitia James is NOT finished yet.

People on Tritter/X are calling this a bill of attainder, so you are probably correct. Ask an attorney if you really wish to know.

In New York they can now seize your property after you’ve paid it off.

They could simply revalue your property for less than the loan mortgage you agreed upon with the bank.

They could then claim you perpetrated fraud.

He should rest easy.

This is the Donald Trump law. Applies to noone else.

Antifa could go riot at the Capitol. No consequences. But MAGA folks who walked by the Capitol? The Donald Trump law.

If you own a one bedroom shack in the Ozarks and Chase Manhattan Bank loans you a billion dollars using it as collateral, then it’s worth a billion dollars.

Trump can celebrate this: when Lacreature James took her victory lap,
reciting her stilted, well-rehearsed speech, w/ practiced pauses,
no one in NY——(well maybe her mother)——said,
“This woman is fantastic, let’s make her governor.”

Exactly. Plus, anyone who ever did the same thing.

I would like to see some upstate DA do some digging into James’s and Engoron’s past real estate dealings and bring identical charges against them. A friendly judge can then make a bench decision without ever hearing any evidence and then go directly to sentencing.

It’s not the idiotic ruling that troubles me, but the thought nothing will be done about it.

Just like the NYS Legislature and Hochul changed NYS Law and lifted the Statute of Limitations FOR ONE YEAR so E Carroll could go after Trump. Carroll filed her suit the day after Hochul signed it into law.
