CNN — Why doesn’t scandal seem to matter anymore?
According to one definition in Merriam-Webster, a scandal is a “circumstance or action that offends propriety or established moral conceptions or disgraces those associated with it.”
Yet scandal in American politics doesn’t necessarily lead to disgrace (or at least disqualification) anymore. Former President Donald Trump tested this question more than any other elected official in modern times. As president, Trump experienced more moments that would traditionally be defined as a scandal than almost any other high official in recent memory, arguably surpassing his notorious predecessor, Richard Nixon. What was so notable about Trump is that almost all his scandals occurred in broad daylight, including efforts to overturn the 2020 election and the resulting violence on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021.

Scandal is less damaging now because one side excuses anything and everything for their side, whereas they exponentially inflate any hint of scandal on the other.
Only conservatives appear to have any standards, but even those standards have suffered because of rhetorical abuse of “scandal” when none exists.
Oddly forgot to mention Clinton. Why might that be? Oh yeah, gaslight media.
After Roe v Wade, the bizarre became the new normal. The Biden Administration is the political culmination. America has entered an era of neo pagan, hedonistic decadence. Decent, rational people ( and that is you Freepers) are now the faithful remnant.

Predictably, this seems focused on the question: “Why aren’t people more upset with Trump and his many crimes against humanity? How can we fix that problem? How can we stir people up to hate him more?”
My answer: I don’t care about scandals — at least: Trump scandals — because they are all fake. They are all persecutions aimed at an innocent man, so no matter what they choose to throw at Trump, I don’t care.
On the other hand, I am pretty upset at Joe Biden’s corruption, his rapes, his senility, and his treason. I am also upset at Hunter Biden’s drug use, child pornography, human trafficking, and gun violations. So, if we want to ramp up concern over these ACTUAL scandals, I’m there for ya buddy.

Clinton. I’ve heard members of my own family say it wasn’t a “scandal” because it was just personal choices, and like you say, that was 30 years ago when there was actually still some morality in this country, albiet you could see it dying.

When asked by Megan Kelly why he did not report on any dirt on Trump, Julian Assange said “there isn’t any”.
For three decades Trump operated in NYC real estate without a single legal or moral problem. Then he beats Hillary and all hell gets unleashed.
He owned the first country club in Florida to allow blacks and Jews.
He was supposedly a Russian asset and in their pocket. But somehow he is the only hotel and resort company that never opened a Moscow location. If he was their boy, that would have been a no brainer.
He did not accept his salary as President.

He’s an inherently decent man and loves normal Americans.

Oh Please. Clinton used scandals to distract from other scandals. Pages upon pages of just the titles of scandals involving wrongdoing by his administration.
