Mayor Adams teamed up with New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy early Monday to tout the huge economic boost expected from netting the next soccer World Cup Final for MetLife Stadium.
“This is a big win for all New Yorkers,” Adams told Fox 5 New York Monday morning of the giant win.
While the stadium is just across the Hudson in the Garden State, the 2026 tournament is projected to generate over $2 billion for the region.
It is also expected to create at least 14,000 jobs as about a million people are expected to hit the region for the finals, as well as seven earlier games in the competition which happens once every four years.

the world cup will be in June and July.
So all of those illegals can be safely moved to on-the-street or in-a-park residences

When the World Cup came to the US in 1994, five games (four from the first round, one from the second round) were held in Orlando, FL, the city where I lived at the time. I don’t remember any long-term effect from the games there. In fact, I don’t think they got more attention than the Orlando Magic normally gets. That was when Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway were on the Magic team, after all.
