My wife’s from KY. It’s an old tobacco state with a ton of smokers, so lung cancer and heart disease jack up the mortality rates. Land is dirt cheap. So is the cost of living. Problem is that the Democrats ran the state since the Civil War, so a welfare mentality has been stamped in the culture of some areas.
My limited understanding of the culture of KY is that they elect Rand, suggesting they can’t be too bad a people, and that Bear Bryant famously stated that they don’t have their priorities right. LOL (more emphasis on basketball than football)
That is true. There is a certain segment who believe the democrats are looking out for them finanically while anyone else is trying to take money out of their pockets.
Medical care is great in Louisville and Lexington. Can’t speak for other places. I just got back from 2 weeks of work in KY. It was bitter cold and I was pretty miserable. Now I’m back where I belong, in SoFlo.
