IMHO the only thing that Nixon and Trump have in common is how the far left and their deep state lackeys went after them both. Nixon was the template that they tried to replicate with Trump.

It was not enough to simply oppose them politically. They had to be destroyed.

Nixon was hated by the left from the time he was a Congressman from California and helped to expose Alger Hiss’s activities. They rejoiced when a mob in Venezuela stoned his car and were thrilled when he lost to JFK in 1960 and to Edmund Brown when ran for governor in 1962.

Naturally they were mortified when he won the Presidency in ‘68 and even more so when he won 49 states in 1972. They finally got him via the Watergate scandal when Republican leaders convinced him that he would not only be impeached, but convicted in the Senate. If you weren’t around, the Watergate hearings were must-see TV for months. The Jan. 6 Committee was hoping for the same thing, but it didn’t happen for them.

He was by no means perfect, but he did manage to acquire the right enemies. The left hated him as much as they hate Trump, only for decades longer.

Democrats often noted that Nixon wasn’t all bad when it came to domestic policy; he signed the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, appointed the Supreme Court justice who wrote Roe v. Wade, and even committed the supreme conservative ideological heresy of imposing wage and price controls.

Despite all of these liberal accomplishments, the Left will never forgive Nixon for nailing the Soviet spy Alger Hiss and crushing the counterculture with his resounding victory over George McGovern in 1972. And today's wokesters charge him with yet another unforgivable sin--saving Israel by supplying it with munitions during the Yom Kippur War.

Well, Bubba, it’s unlikely that you lived through the same time I did. Nixon was personable and like Trump, spoke to us, rather than giving speeches.

We were going through a hard war halfway around the world (where I spent a lot of my time), we had the very proximate daily threat of a thermonuclear was, we had a violent civil rights battle going on and the cities on fire, assassination, war in the Middle East, inflation, the “race to the Moon”, the Oil Crisis, etc.,etc.

Meanwhile, the Left tore into him, day after day and the “antiwar” movement - a Leftist-led pro-enemy conspiracy - grew in numbers and power.

On a personal note, while I was in the hospital recovering from wounds, I wrote a telegram to him, thanking him for backing the opening of attacks against the Ho Chi Minh trail. He sent a hand-written letter back to me which I still have.

You’re missing the point. Nixon didn’t need any help from the Left to pursue his own lust for glory and power. And this was at a time when I thought Nixon was the cat’s meow. I wasn’t savvy to the “RINO” thing or a lot of other things yet.

Oh, the Left hated Nixon, but the Left did not force Nixon minions into the Watergate facility to try to steal confidential documents, the lynchpin that brought Nixon down because of Nixon’s incessant denials and lies. (NOTHING compared to today’s Left, Democrats, Biden, and Obama.)

Nevertheless, RINO Nixon didn’t need much help taking himself down. They gave him enough rope and he hung himself.

Nixon screwed up, the press was against him, done deal. Today Biden and Obama are basic criminals, the press protects them, nothing happens. The power of the press - life in a fallen world - but Nixon still screwed up.

I don’t see it. It’s the other way around. The Reagan Library/Museum/Foundation has been anti-MAGA and the Nixon Library/Museum/Foundation has been more open to Trump and MAGA.

I would say, though, that looking at what happens when the Establishment or the Deep State decides to take someone out now, the whole Watergate story deserves a second look.

Oh, bullsnot: Nixon was driven out of power by relentless attacks from his Day One by Leftists who hated him for defeating their communist-leaning candidates and for continuing to push for a victory in Vietnam.

Every day, day after day, anti-Nixon pieces and cartoons in every paper and news broadcast. Every day some new “scandal” pushed by the Left.

They went after Nixon with every evil tool they could come up with and they eventually got him.

The same playbook they have been attacking President Trump with from the get-go.

*********************

👍👍

The Nixon “take down” was before my time, but the people who orchestrated it sure look familiar.

agreed...however...I don’t think LHO was a nut at all.

I think the Lone Nut came into being in order to give cover to the construct after it was imposed on LHO.

SS, James Earl Ray, Hinckley....not to mention Arthur Bremer, Squeaky, Sarah Jane Moore, Mark David Chapman...the Unabomber...these were all people driven to do by a very successful MK Ultra program....

Europeans often ask: why does America have all these Lone Nuts?

Answer: Our intel overlords created them, as an end in themselves, but also to cover up what they did with Kennedy/Oswald. Every new Lone Nut gives cover to Oswald.

Fast-forward to 2024 and make no mistake, Nixon would not have resigned.

First he would have kept Agnew, knowing that was his ace in the hole; then on Aug. 7, 1974, told Goldwater and Rhodes and Hugh Scott, to get the freak out of the Oval Office or "I'll give you Agnew as President!"

And that would have been that. Goldwater would have gone back to Mansfield and said, 'You vote to remove and your Montana will glow within a year.'.

"If you don't got Mojo Nixon then your store could use some fixin'!"

Saw him in the Skid Roper days. Early into the first set, Mojo put the tv set on his head and cut his ear! My girlfriend happened to have a band-aid, and the show went on.

Very possibly. The worse problem is that there are a lot of psychs who use MKULTRA techniques on their own to ensure a lot of crazed killers infest society. They then claim that the government needs to provide more funds for “professional help”. People blithely accept this without realizing that it is the “professional help” that is purposefully creating these monsters.
