The idea that black people are always late to appointments and unable to keep to a schedule is one of those racist myths that should have died a natural death a long time ago. And yet it’s still with us. Only now, the purveyors of this stereotype are not, in the main, white bigots. Rather, they’re self-styled social justice warriors who believe that when anybody—even an African American—expects a black person to conform to the most basic social norms, they’re revealing a deeply held racial bias. Being on time, they would have you believe, is a white thing, and to insist that black people conform to this white norm is to insist on the superiority of the white race.

My guest this week, Tabia Lee, the former DEI director at De Anza Community College, ran afoul of this kind of progressive bigotry when she made the utterly ordinary suggestion to her colleagues that it might be helpful to set an agenda for the semester. For that infraction, she was accused of “whitespeaking, whitesplaining, and supporting white supremacy.” The fact that Tabia is African American herself seemed not to matter. It was only the first of a series of absurd run-ins with progressive racial ideology, which Tabia details here, that eventually led to her dismissal from her position. It’s unfortunate that someone as qualified as Tabia has been effectively ejected from academia for espousing what many people would consider common sense. But maybe Tabia’s former colleagues would consider common sense a “white thing,” too.

My church once had an associate pastor from Nigeria. He referred to it as “African time”.
“to insist that black people conform to this white norm is to insist on the superiority of the white race.”
That belief by black folks is why you see so many of them refusing to comply with police directions and bad things resulting from that defiance.
don’t forget paying bills, not littering, not spitting on sidewalks.
It’s demotrated weekly on OP Nation. The last episode I saw the copper ask: you would’ve happen to have a driver’s license with you?
The bad news: guy lost his job
The good news: one less DIE idiot in a corporation
Don’t forget taking their time crossing streets in order to hold up traffic.
A very good black friend and his adult daughter were talking about a party that was to start at 3pm “BPT.”
The white guy/me asked “what is BPT?”
His daughter said, laughing, “Black people time. We are always late. If we say we’ll be there at 2pm, we’ll be there at 3 or 4. And nobody says anything. So we make adjustments. If we want people there at 3, we tell them 2.”
Keeping with the spirit, I said “well, then let me introduce you to White people time…it’s a mortal sin to arrive late, so my peeps will try to leave home way early and get there about 30-60 mins early. If we get there too early, we will go to a Dunkin Donuts and drink coffee until the right time.”
Nobody was criticized, nobody was shamed, nobody was offended. It was a great laugh.
My daughter married into a Greek family - they call it “Greek Time”.
Being late and not knowing the meaning of an “appointment” explains why this group is not enjoying the prosperity that is possible in this country. Plus they hate people who actually arrive on time and want billions in “reparations” from them to compensate for the money not earned by people who are always late.
BPT does not work so well in most companies or organizations. It communicates that the rules don’t apply to you and you think you can do what you want. I wonder how even AA bosses and owners view it?
De Anza is in Cupertino surrounded by the wealth and power of Silicon Valley.
There are no blacks in that area but mostly Chinese and Indian.
Someone must have mandated she be hired as its clear she isn’t qualified.
Bad thing is, she will quickly be replaced. The same would occur in a corporation that has such a position in the first place.
BTW, we have the Larry Fink types to thank for all of this DEI crap in the corporations in the first place. It's called the communist march through the institutions of America to, as Obama stated, create radical change in America.
That said, the origin of "colored-people's time" (or CPT) is pretty innocent. The only way slaves had any control on a plantation was to slow everything down to make living tolerable. It might be a passive-aggressive response, but it worked.
And this way of life stuck. Unfortunately.
Also talking and laughing at a decibel rate similar to an Airbus A330 whilst blocking aisles at the store.

Qualified for what? A DEI person with a high double digit IQ is still a bag of human trash. They should all be fired and hanged.
Unfortunately, they probably found an even bigger nitwit to take her place.
Now that I am retired, I am “on Indian time”. One of my friends, a Navajo and older than me is always punctual.
A friend of mine puts it as “If they came from somewhere where it is hot, they are going to be late”.
I have a cousin that suffered from “Can’t get to work on time” because he stayed up late. He finally had to get a 2nd shift job and he has been there for 25 years. Another cousin is late to everything but her daughter and son-in-law are always on time and he is black. Go figure.
I had some young Argentinean friends who told me it is considered bad manners there to arrive at a party on time. The party usually ends with everyone going to breakfast.
