Was there any doubt to how this would end? Unless the U.S. and NATO put troops in the Ukraine and initiated WW3 with Russia, there was no doubt as to who would win the Ukraine war of attrition. Western nations with powerful military apparatus who decided to war with Russia do not have a good record. E.g., Napoleon, Hitler. Even if NATO (U.S.) went to war with Russia, it's not certain that we'd win; if it went nuclear, the world would lose. Consider a similar hypothetical conflict. If the U.S. decided to possess parts or all of Mexico, would there be any doubt as to who the victor would be?

When you start conscripting old men and boys, it's past time to concede. It's time to negotiate terms of peace.
