The snubbing of Florida State University’s football team from the college football playoff on Sunday has gone political, with Donald Trump saying disgruntled fans should blame Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for the team being left out of the final four.
In a post to Truth Social, the former president said FSU was “treated very badly” by the playoff’s selection committee, which voted to allow two one-loss teams—the University of Texas and University of Alabama—in over the undefeated FSU.
“(FSU) become the first Power Five team to be left out of the College Football Playoffs,” Trump wrote, omitting that FSU is the first undefeated power-five team to be left out. “Really bad lobbying effort…Lets blame DeSanctimonious!!!”

In a sane world, the “committee” that decides such things as playoffs could gollee jee just hold a zoom call at 3 pm today and set up another playoff game.
I’m a rabid Longhorn fan of 50+ years but I think it’s absurd to screw over FSU given their perfect no loss season.
No substance to such actions.

I think they should bar Michigan from any bowl games, their Governor is a marxist wench.
Another possibility is that the committee wanted to snub Florida because DeSantis is such a visible symbol of social conservatism.
FSU played a weak schedule with their best win over LSU, and LSU team that was on a downward spiral.
Sure, they beat Florida, but Florida is not a strong team. The other wins were over Duke, Pitt, Wake Forest, Boston College and mighty North Alabama.
I’m surprised FSU did not schedule a game against Smith College.

Looks like an actual Truth Social post from DJT. Frankly, it sounds very ‘tongue in cheek’ to me ... sort of like ‘lets blame climate change’.
I listened to a lot of the reasons on both sides of the FSU controversy ... could go either way ... sort of. Frankly, if you win your conference championship, you should have a bye in the national championship playoffs, IMO. FSU was undefeated & won the ACC Conference Championship .... then you have a ‘committee’ subjectively leaving them out (ostensibly because their first string QB was out with a broken leg) in favor of Alabama. The 3rd string true freshman QB managed to win the ACC Championship game (maybe a couple of games before that - not totally ‘up’ on FSU since we are all VT Hokies!). OOF.
Today, I saw a USA Today forecast that places Texas and Alabama in the national championship game. The two one loss teams.

Sounds more like he’s living in Trump’s head to me.
Actually, FSU made a REAL STINK earlier this year about leaving the ACC & offended some of the powers-that-be. Some of the sports guys analyzing the bowl schedule & the national championship playoff picks, suggested that this might have been in the back of some of the committee’s minds when they were making choices between teams. There were some faces like ‘I don’t know about that’, but no one outright discounted it.
