Blinken urges Israel to comply with international law and spare civilians in war against Hamas

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday stepped up calls for Israel to comply with international law and spare civilians as it wages its war against Hamas in Gaza.

On his third trip to the Middle East since the war began on Oct. 7, Blinken said the U.S. remains committed to supporting Israel’s right to self defense. But he also said it is imperative that Israel protect civilians if it starts major military operations in southern Gaza.

His message aligns with the Biden administration’s shifting rhetoric on the war, which began as a full-throated embrace of Israel’s response to the Hamas attacks but gradually tempered as the number of Palestinian civilian casualties began to rise dramatically.

How about NO! One side is clearly evil. Bomb them until they surrender unconditionally.

Did the United States "follow international law" when it firebombed Tokyo ? Or Dresden ?

International Law for thee, but not for me.

Gaza civilians aren't interested in anything but the Islamic Law......Blinken knows this and knows the Western World has no control of Islamic Muslims nor can it. As long as these vultures are seen as belonging to a Religion instead of the death cult they are things will not change...they are “protected”..and they not only know it but use it to throw in our faces.

Bomb them until they surrender unconditionally

I agree that the 75 year long war is not going to end without unconditional surrender by one of the parties. Unconditional surrender will not be achieved by bombing.

Men with knives cutting hearts out will be required.

Since there are no civilians, only non-uniformed enemy combatants in Gaza, no problem. In fact per the Geneva Convention they are entitled to was less protections becuase they hide as civilians (pretty much all in Gaza do)

What does “international law” say about kidnapping, rape, beheading, and immolation of babies? Perhaps when “international law” is enforced on the Gazans then Israel will give it some consideration.

Israel should follow the same policies the US and its allies did in bombing Dresden or Hiroshima in World War II.

The rats love to fight one arm wars. There is money to be made and power to be cultivated on the graves of dead kids.

The Obama regime hates Israel. I do not know why they were giving any pretense otherwise.

Like the US has done in Vietnam, Iraq, Syria, Belgrade, Libya, Afghanistan and via our proxy Ukraine?

This reminds me of my first day of international law class in college when the professor stood up and said “International Law doesn’t really exist but, it’s fun to talk about.”

Thinking the cease fire is going to end up a very bad thing for Israel because it has given the world community time to build political pressure to shut Israel down and give Hamas a victory.

The longer this goes on the less pressure there is on Hamas and the more there is.pressure on Israel.

The harder Israel tries to gain the moral high ground the more they lose it.

The moral inversion is stunning.

Time is not on their side.

The IDF needs to get back to dismantling Hamas because it is the way to resolve anything with these terrorists

75 years?

In 628, Muhammad besieged and invaded the Jewish fortress of Khaybar, which hosted more than 10,000 Jews. Sound familiar?

2023 - 628 = 1,395 years.
