Ahead of last year’s midterm elections, I suggested to you on this page that Republicans had two years left to decide: Are they the party of Ronald Reagan, or the party of Donald Trump? A party of grounded conservative principles, advanced by Reagan’s high-minded optimism and penchant for compromise? Or a party of authoritarian, populist impulses, motivated by Trump’s dark and pessimistic vision of America as “a nation in decline”?
For those of us who hoped that Republican voters would choose the former, recent months have offered little cause for optimism. Sen. Tim Scott’s withdrawal from the presidential primary earlier this month — coupled with polling data collected over the past year — suggest that many GOP voters are steering further into Trump’s populist skid, despite a growing record of electoral defeats.

a) Reagan’s been gone for a long time, and the Republican establishment in the last few decades has shown zero interest in following Reagan’s lead.
b) Better a man like Trump who actually fights than spineless RINOs who are only good at collaborating with the enemy.

Times have changed. Zombie Reaganism is not applicable in many cases since the world has changed massively since 1980....and I say this as someone who was and is a huge fan of Ronaldus Magnus. He was exactly what we needed at that time. Trump is exactly what we need now.

Reagan is dead, and was not that great when he was alive.
That was before “Desanctimonious” and “Birdbrain”.
The choice between President Reagan or President Trump is a false comparison by snakes that hated Reagan. Regan would e disgusted with today’s Republican leaders. Make no mistake, the GOP did everything they could do to stop Reagan back in the 70s and 80s.
