I lived out in Anaheim and things seemed to chill out for a long while after that. I was in and around downtown L.A. off and on into the late 1980’s and it was all just South Central and the Rampart that we heard to stay away from. Hell, I went and had a 9pm dinner at The Pantry on 9th and Figueroa one night, and none of the guys on the street corners even looked at me twice.

Biggest thing I remember in L.A. after Watts was the stupid forced bussing they did with the school kids. That idiotic move was in the headlines constantly for years in the ‘70’s.
