Federal immigration authorities arrested an illegal immigrant wanted in Senegal for alleged terrorist activities, two weeks after he was released into the country after being encountered by agents at the southern border.
In a press release, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says a 29-year-old "unlawfully present Mauritanian or Senegalese citizen" was arrested on Oct. 17.
ICE says he is wanted by Senegalese authorities for criminal conspiracy in relation to a terrorist organization; destruction, degradation and damages in relation to a terrorist organization; direct provocation of an armed crowd and acts (or preparatory acts) aimed at compromising public safety.
But he had first been encountered on Oct. 3 -- two weeks earlier -- by Border Patrol agents at the southern border near Lukeville, Arizona. He was then processed by officials and served with a Notice to Appear in New York City and released on his own recognizance.
A week after he was released, on Oct. 10, ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations agents notified Enforcement and Removal Operations in New York City that he was wanted on terrorism charges in Senegal.
ICE’s New York City Fugitive Operations team then arrested him "without incident" outside of the Federal Plaza immigration court in New York City. He is now in custody on deportation proceedings.
"Noncitizens who are engaged in or suspected of supporting terrorism are a direct threat to our country’s national security and will be expeditiously removed from the United States," ERO New York City Field Office Director Kenneth Genalo said in a statement. "ERO New York City will use every tool at our disposal to keep American citizens and residents safe from those who erroneously believe they can exploit our immigration laws to escape justice in other countries."

The good news at least some border control agents aren't spending all their time processing new entries.
The bad news, ten days gave him all the time he needed to assimilate were he here with the intent of terror. He'd have had a community to assimilate into. Of course most criminals simply evade the Border Control. But this is the Biden system.

Let me get this straight. They let him waltz in to our country with zero background check. Then after they let him go they somehow learned he’s a terrorist so they had to go find him. And fortunately they did. This time.

They’ll probably put him up in a four star hotel with a new iPhone, a couple grand a month in cash, food stamps, free medical care, a green card, and a letter of apology signed by Biden himself.

So what does ICE do these days when they “arrest” those criminal bass turds freely coming into America. Anybody know why those dickheads “wade across the Rio Grande? Is it some kind of ceremonial BS or something. All they have to do is have the guy they drove them up from Venezuela drop them off at the checkpoint and turn themselves in and the DHS officer will make the sandwiches while the BP changes their shiddy diapers.
Good question. I doubt they arrest many since the information isn't available. Like this guy, they release him. I'm surprised there was follow up. This certainly isn't the way to protect the country. I don't blame for the border agents for that.
As to this guy I assume we'll go through the deportation process, which will take several years and cost well more than $100,000. He'll probably get representation from some non profit, if not we'll pay for his attorneys.
That said, this guy was stupid. Presented himself to agents presumably using his real name. From the little I know of Senegal they have significant political unrest, many protests due to the holding of political prisoners. For all I know he may not be a terrorist but legitimately being politically prosecuted. I guess our system will work that out in this case. This one case. He could be one of the 25,000 or so of the millions Joe is encouraging to come here that actually receive asylum.
Or he could be a legitimate terrorist and we caught one. Rest assured the terrorists coming from established groups are hiking through the desert to their US contacts with fake id.
