In the weeks leading up to Hamas’s Oct. 7 attacks on Israel, hundreds of the Palestinian Islamist militant group’s fighters received specialized combat training in Iran, according to people familiar with intelligence related to the assault.
Roughly 500 militants from Hamas and an allied group, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, participated in the exercises in September, which were led by officers of the Quds Force, the foreign-operations arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the people said.
Senior Palestinian officials and Iranian Brig. Gen. Esmail Qaani, the head of Quds Force, also attended, they said.
More than 1,400 people, mostly civilians, were killed Oct. 7 by Hamas fighters who poured across the border from the Gaza Strip. Scores of others were kidnapped and taken back to Gaza, where they are being held hostage.
Hamas attackers used aerial drones to disable Israeli observation posts and high-tech surveillance equipment. Some used paragliders to fly into Israel. Others rode on motorcycles, commonly used by Iranian paramilitary groups but not by Hamas until Oct. 7.
U.S. officials said Iran has regularly trained militants in Iran and elsewhere, but they have no indications of a mass training right before the attack. U.S. officials and the people familiar with the intelligence said they had no information to suggest Iran conducted training specifically to prepare for the events of Oct. 7.
On Wednesday, Israel’s military offered some of its most blunt comments yet on Iran’s role in aiding Hamas and other militant groups.

I’ll bet extensive training was required to tie up babies and burn them.
I believe this fact is causus belli for Israel.
Whether they choose to act on it is their business.
Though I believe the US is putting as much pressure as we have to dissuade Israel from attacking Iran directly.
And some of the “new neighbors” and “friends we haven’t met yet” who crossed the US southern border are from these regions——trained and ready.
No one knows where they all went if they escaped arrest.
The arrested ones are not in life in prison without parole-—and if deported they probably came back the next day or two.

I think Iran planned a multi-direction, multi-stage attack which assumed that Israel would do a massive ground invasion of Gaza.
That hasn’t happened, and it may have “frozen” the fronts in Lebanon, Syria and the West Bank, while they wait for the Gaza attack.

Iran needs to be attacked sooner rather than later... These facilities and the infrastructure that supports terrorism within Iran is a threat to Israel, and it’s also a threat to western democracies.
Today they are flying paragliders into Israel and tomorrow they could be flying planes or maybe even drones into Europe and North America. They need to be hit, hit hard and incapacitated.
Agree. Not like the Ellis Island days where a man came here legally, got a menial job, then worked two more jobs and paid to get his family to arrive in the US later.
These trained military age males have no families with them.

How did 500 terrorists leave Gaza for Iran and then return given that Israel and Egypt control the borders.?

No idea, especially given that Egypt isn’t thrilled with Hamas either, and it’s a rather short border. Were I to guess I’d say either the smuggling tunnels from Egypt or from the Mediterranean, more likely the former. And it’s a small number, we shouldn’t assume they’re palestinian. With non palestinian identification they can probably enter easily. The Rafah crossing is controlled by Egypt with no Israeli presence.
