I remember that the law only clarified what was already legal since the early 2000s, that a governor could run for president since it was a federal position and not a state one. What was clarified had to do with state employees running for in-state positions or for similar positions in other states.

Do you remember the part where he can hide many of his activities from the public. I forget the exact details, but essentially he no longer has to disclose what he was doing while he was working on the taxpayer dime.

You remember wrong. Rino Florida Gov. Chris Christie had the law changed because he thought he might end up being McCain's running mate. He wasn't, and left office never reversing the change. When Rick Scott took office, he had the law changed back to its original state. It was DeSantis that had it changed again so he didn't have to resign to run for President. I don't care what party a person is from, they shouldn't be allowed to use their party's majority in the State Legislature to benefit themselves politically, or monetarily, which is exactly what that change in the law did for DeSantis.
