Author Stephen King railed against gun violence in the wake of Wednesday’s mass shooting in Maine, calling for people to “stop electing apologists for murder.”

“It’s the rapid-fire killing machines, people,” King wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “This is madness in the name of freedom. Stop electing apologists for murder.”

At least 16 people were killed in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday in a mass shooting incident at two locations. Local authorities said the suspect remains at large and residents were instructed to shelter in place. Firearms instructor Robert Card, 40, has been named as a person of interest.

Another very sad mental health story turned into a tragedy. Thanks for posting the link.

It’s especially awful because he checked himself in- he KNEW he was sick.

Our systems for helping people with mental health problems are horrible. I’m trying to remember a mass killing that didn’t have a mentally sick person as the killer. It’s hard to imagine the despair one would have after seeking help and not getting it..

Despair and torment for the mentally ill and the same for the families. Far too many end in suicide.

Stephen King is relevant to Maine for one reason: $$. He could have thrown his money around anywhere, but he happens to be in Maine, which I suspect he finds an easy buy. Every time I hear about him, I cringe for my beloved state of Maine.

Clown literally makes his living describing horror, crime, killing, fear and terror yet he’s against guns. Screw him and his silly books, too.

Stephen King’s Dark Tower dragged on far too long. Could have wrapped up in 3-4 books.

Just my 2 cents.

If Stephen King knows so much, how come he doesn’t know that had some of those citizens been armed, the shooter would have been taken down immediately.
