An air hostess and a research scientist are among the hundreds of thousands of volunteer soldiers who are braced for Israel's battle with Hamas fanatics in Gaza

Definitely not guilty.
Lighten up, Francis.
Exactly.
Similarly, I wonder how many barracks have been empty in Ukraine all along.
Imagine the Tik Tok videos they would have made after knocking back all those suds! IF they had had TT back then.
That time is coming real soon. Let the kids blow off some steam now. They have to be scared sh!tless. And parents and friends are all expecting their loved ones in body bags.
“ Do you honestly soldiers playing cards or having a drink are equivalent to thirst traps? ”
Different era. Different ways of trying to stay normal in the face of death.
At least according to several posters here, yeah. I think they’re f**ked in the head, personally. Troops will do what they have to to keep morale up in the field.
Impressive
Your Humorectomy was completely successful
Exactly. There *are* some private films sent home by cinematographers during Vietnam that had the troops goofing off too.
I think some of the old crotchety guys in the thread are just mad that they didn’t have this option back then.
Yes, because culture has changed in the nearly *HALF CENTURY* since Vietnam ended.
Tell me, do you also demand that modern troops only communicate home using pencil, paper and the post? Or at best a twenty word telegram sent from a major city if they can get to it?
Not even nowhere close to guilty.
I agree. Unfortunately I spend a lot of time wondering what folks are thinking. In this case I really don’t understand the seemingly genuine outrage at these two young women blowing off steam.
Unfortunately, we have a lot of old inflexible fogies here who resent that things aren’t like they were in 1969 any more and who don’t even try to understand the modern expressions of things they themselves felt in similar circumstances.
Yup. Worth noting that when camcorders became a common and inexpensive thing, troops started sending home videotapes of their units goofing off and relaxing as well. They could also share them with media and some did.
Or worse, since they’re female and up against fundie Islamicist fighters.
If either of those young ladies want to come to the USA... I would happily sponsor them...
Don’t judge... I have needs...
Remember when the USO would send entertainers in theater to keep the troops morale up...
Same. But freelance.
“Lighten up Francis...”
Preferably most of them - even if you do have troops, once war starts, you don’t keep them in barracks within artillery or tactical missile range of the enemy if you have any choice. Why? Because the top of your target list for artillery and missiles are “means by which the enemy can make war” - which includes barracks full of troops. I know that when I play mil-sims, RTS or similar games, barracks and troop quarters are very, very high on my list of priority targets. It’s how you *win*.
Been there... Done that.
Yup, lots of guys (and later girls) in Desert Storm and later conflicts did this. This is only new in the sense of how it was disseminated. Doing this sort of thing is now at least 30 years old.
