EXCLUSIVE San Francisco mayor orders police, health and other departments to propose cuts of $206 MILLION in desperate attempt to reverse city's 'doom loop' spiral into economic collapse

San Francisco's mayor has ordered city departments including police and public health to propose budget cuts of $206 million by next week in a desperate attempt to reverse the stricken city's 'doom loop' spiral into economic collapse.

Law enforcement budgets in the city, which is ravaged by homelessness, drugs and a downtown business exodus, face cuts of $27.6 million, while the public health department could lose a further $25.9 million, according to a DailyMail.com analysis.

The fire department must propose reductions of around $10.5 million to meet the mayor's demand, while city's crumbling Municipal Transport Agency must find savings of $15.5 million, a review of official figures suggests.

In a letter dated October 11, Mayor London Breed ordered departments to propose massive cuts to this year's budgets in order to prevent San Francisco reaching a $500 million deficit by 2025.

The radical cuts mark an embarrassing change of tack from Breed, who is now forced to tear up the record-breaking $14.6 billion annual budget she signed off just three months ago. Department heads across the city have until Thursday, October 26 to propose their cuts.

206 million out of 14,000+ million? That’s rounding. This sounds like a publicity stunt. Maybe the mayor wants to be governor of California after Gavin moves on.

Expect similar, or even more, cuts next year.

London needs to spend more time getting bred and less time exacerbating the already tenuous position she continually places this dying city. They have degraded this city so much and so often that it won’t even be worth China wasting a nuclear warhead when Biden finally gets his war.

No matter how bad things are, you can always count on a Democrat to make them worse, and it’s not by accident.

Just do what Detroit did - “unannex” and abandon large sections of the city. When your business tax base in an area is gone, cut all city services to the remaining residents.

I hear Detroit has a Renaissance going now.

Exactly. The dumbasses should increase the police budget not decrease it. Until THE PERCEPTION takes root that CRIME has peaked with more police on the street NOTHING is going to improve. Absolute DUMBASSES!

Moreover, all the so called HOMELESS have to go. But a thousand acres out in the desert and put them in tents out there.

Mayor Breed just isn’t thinking clearly. She should get Potato Head Biden to include relief for Democrat cities in the next Ukraine/Israel aid package.

Sure, the Republicans might object. But only for a couple of days.

Not good at math, eh?

Democrat Mayor London Breed screwed up bigtime.......now she’s ordered govt agencies to propose massive cuts to prevent San Francisco reaching a $500 million deficit by 2025.

The radical cuts are embarrassing since San/Fran’s first mayor of color is now forced to tear up her record-breaking $14.6 billion annual budget she signed off on, just three months ago.

Let me guess: More worthless dollars for “homeless services” - which has done exactly nothing as the number of mentally ill and drug-addled homeless has increased.

Better to have businesses closing, tourists fleeing, taxpayers abandoning the city, lucrative conferences booking elsewhere - than to deal with feces and drug-addled or raging mentally ill in the streets and rampant crime everywhere, smashing car windows at will, shoplifting, b/c no consequences.

Good going San Francisco.

I am visiting family in SF - yesterday there was a raving mad man down near a kid’s beach where I walk my dogs - families were having picnics, kids were playing in the sand and people strolling along the walkways - we came back later, the mentally ill homeless man was still strutting around screaming and yelling incoherently - and the area had cleared out. These lunatics have all the rights it seems.

I keep hoping for “The Big One,” a once in an epoch earthquake that would would sever California from North America, allowing it to slide into the depths of the Pacific. I know, I know...lots of ocean life will die from eating the junkies and silicone teats, buttocks, etc. But it would be worthwhile in the long run.

Breed isn’t the first black mayor. That was Willie Brown, some time ago.

SF has no absolute majority anymore, but White people are the plural majority. Which is why they all vote for a woman who represents 5% of the population...they want to demonstrate how open and caring they are...or something.

No White male heterosexual will ever be a mayor of that city for the foreseeable future. It will only be some sort of Sacred Minority. Even if the town ends up being 75% White...like it was in 1970.

The real problem is drug addicts who are homeless and/or mentally ill making the place unsafe for decent people. But let’s cut police protection instead.

Oops.....Breed is the first black “woman” mayor, voted in by women
to demonstrate how open and caring they are........or something.

On their knees in obeisance to “diversity” and “inclusion”

Sorry, the San Francisco economic death spiral is past the point of no return. Too many huge (and not so huge) businesses have already jumped off that sinking ship.

Fortunately most of the people who are going to be ruined voted for this with their uber-left attitudes.

Can everyone say “Schadenfreude”?

Wouldn’t they be better off with some sort of quasi bankruptcy and a federal judge running the place? Even a leftist judge might do a better job of preventing a complete collapse. Obviously San Francisco has lost any ability to self-govern.
