Maryland authorities said a judge was the victim of "a targeted attack" when he was gunned down outside his home Thursday night.
Law enforcement is looking for Pedro Argote in the killing of Washington County Circuit Court Assistant Judge Andrew Wilkinson. Authorities said there was a hearing earlier on Thursday, during which Wilkinson awarded child custody to a woman in Argote's divorce.
Argote was not present for that proceeding, they said.

Agreed. He doesn’t look like the type to pull off a hit.
Meanwhile the editorial profession is declining - I don’t think they have editors anymore! The caption below the third photo reads:
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Friday named Pedro Argote as a suspect in connection with the shooting of Maryland Circuit Court Judge Pedro Argote. [He shot himself???]
He is probably already back south of the border.

“Authorities responded to Argote’s residence for ‘verbal domestic assaults’ twice within the last two years, but he does not have a prior criminal record in Washington County, Albert said.”
Why would authorities need to respond to “verbal domestic assaults”?
My late father was an attorney and then a circuit judge in Florida for many years. The handful of times that he and our family were in danger were mostly child custody and divorce cases, with the prosecutions of violent criminals and Mafia cases less so. Similarly, cops usually fear domestic interventions more than confronting violent criminals.
A marriage is a lot like a war.
They’re never more dangerous than when they’re ending.
I’m very surprised that it doesn’t happen all the time.
Let me see, he loses his kids, house, car, she gets child support, and personal alimony. I wonder how many days before her boyfriend moves in? I give it a week.
Just because he bad mouths his wife once in a while.
Killing judges is not the way to fix this, but is a good start with some judges and lawyers. It might make them all be a little more fair to both parties.
Judges like this guy have ruined marriage in the USA.
Well, he won’t be able to pay much child support and alimony on the forty cents an hour prison pay.
waiting to see how many defend the shooter- ‘cause divorce and wimmin.
A woman got custody? Just a random someone walking past the courtroom?
Pretty Poor Reporting all the way around.
Judges like this guy have ruined marriage in the USA.
Well, they’ve certainly ruined some divorces, but as a guy who did family law for a few years early in my career, I’m pretty sure the marriages are toast by the time they get in front of the judge.

I agree with you on both points:
Killing a judge because you didn’t like his ruling is an attack on all Americans. Because, without some semblance of a legal system, our society, such as it sadly is, will turn into a complete wild west show with every man for himself all day long.
Your second point. Yes, I have spent much time in front of many (dozens) judges fighting X wives over 20 years regarding two kids from two marriages. Unequivocally, over 50% of judges are sorry as they can possibly be for MANY diverse and documentable reasons but thats a LONG story.
Was the Judge a Socialist Left Prick?
All too true. Marriage commonly involves a mutual misunderstanding in that women think they can readily change their husband for the better, while men think that marriage will not change their wife. In the best marriages, the husband changes for the better, as does the wife, leaving both partners the happy realization that they made a great match. Yet even that is not guaranteed to last a lifetime.
I don’t have much good to say about many judges have been in front of, but I would NEVER, EVER, consider causing them physical harm.
I am totally opposed to commting physical harm to any judge; no matter how corrupt they might be.
