Wait a min… I thought the wise and noble natives were a bunch of gentle monks living with total harmony with Gaia. The modern portrayal of American Indians is as ridiculous as how blacks are portrayed as stock brokers and doctors in modern TV commercials.
ping for later
They were subjected to ghastly, prolonged and public torture. All tribe members (including women and children) were encouraged to mete out the torture, at will until the captive died. To the present, native American's are portrayed as the noble savages. What they did to one another was incredible
I’ve had discussions with Wokesters about this. It doesn’t matter. They blame America for slavery in the first place, the Natives simply picked up the chattel practice from us.
The only thing I’ve seen that stops the Wokesters in their tracks is to remind them the fact that many of the Founding Fathers were abolitionist and that we tried to stop slavery against the slaving Empire who brought slavery here to these shores, ultimately, against our will too.
The facts prove this.
The wokesters mistakenly believe Britain invented abolitionism.
BZZT! Wrong answer. America invented transatlantic abolitionism.
Yeah. Always willing to lend a hand and help out new folks. Sorta like the Amish right? NOT! So much left out of historical teachings. But, it helps mold the narrative.

"Dey darker den us! Woof!"
Finally some truth about Native Americans and slavery peeks out from under the covers. The narrative about Abraham Lincoln and the South is still perverted.
"Communism's Goals For America" as entered into the Congressional Record (circa 1963) #30: Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”
THere were black plantation owners too. Some of the largest owners were black.
As well, there were white slaves (although the left deny this and claim they were nothing but “Indentured servants”, but everyone a.ive when it happened knew full well that they were slaves with nor rights, nor any way to work off their supposed debts). Infact white slaves were much cheaper than black slaves, and as a result many were brutally treated and simply replaced when they died from the abuse.
Maybe instead of “Indigenous Peoples Day” we should use Jefferson’s phrase from the Declaration of Independence: Merciless Indian Savages Day.
That’s why I wrote this book. To set some records straight.

Liz Warren should learn some history.
The 1835 Cherokee census recorded indians 8,946. Slaves 776. Acres under cultivation 19,216.
The American Indian tribes were holding slaves long before the people from Africa came here. It was also a practice in South American and the Caribbean. Conquered and captured people were taken into slavery in the US from other tribes, Canadians, Mexicans, French, Spanish...whoever the tribes took. Slavery is not any different than in the time of Christ and before. It wasn’t relatives that carried Cleopatra on her litter. And all peoples throughout the world either did it or condoned it. And, it is still going on today in many countries. So how can someone point a finger at a particular group when the pointer’s relatives either did it or allowed it? I can spell check hypocrite.

There were also Indian women, wives of black slaves, on plantations owned by whites. A sizable number of black Americans have at least a little American Indian ancestry.
Apparently slavery is only bad when the slaveowners are white and the slaves are black.
Interesting that this author presents this as ground breaking revelations. The facts that he presents have been well known and taught seriously for decades.
Angie Debo’s acclaimed 1934 “Rise and Fall of the Choctaw Republic” discussed in detail the situation of Indian slave owning. She won the American Historical Society’s prestigious award as the best book on American history that year.
The fact people may not want to hear this stuff doesn’t mean the facts aren’t out there. But, all Oklahoma high school students are taught this during Oklahoma History courses.
Agreed. See post 12
They don’t recognize England was our colonizer. Slavery was their institution. Several colonies banned slavery pre independence, the King overruled them. Perhaps because the Royal African Company was founded by the Royals. By 1789 five states had banned slavery, still legal in Britain. The northwest territory, our first expansion, would give rise to five free states. By 1821, slavery still legal in Britain for another dozen years, 12 free 12 slave states. By the Civil war 17 to 15. The idea that abolition was an English concept is silly. Facts don’t matter. Could also point out that if the US is guilty of original sin due to European established slavery, so is every other nation in our hemisphere.
A meet and greet.
No it doesn't rub off!
Lewis and Clark, party time, very popular with the EM! And the Indians.
IIRC, L&C did not partake in the orgy.
In the autumn of 1804 when the Expedition reached what is now South Dakota and made contact with local Native American tribes, the Arikaras were astonished to see a black man. York, who was described as large and had curly hair, soon became the object of their attention. The Arikaras crowded around him touching his skin and hair and found it difficult to understand why his color did not come off.
Further reading... York was very popular with the Indian ladies, it's unlikely his descendants were slaves.
